Publisher's summary

In fog-enshrouded Victorian London, Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson soon become entangled in a deadly web of intrigue and cryptic clues.

Who is the silver-caned shadowy stranger? Is Euclid's College lecturer John Kindred really in danger? And what is the connection to the fabled and priceless emerald, the Egyptian Sepulchre?

Holmes slowly suspects that the answers may lie behind a quite extraordinary equation.

Delightful Play Performance

Written in the style of the Basil Rathbone's "Sherlock" & Nigel Bruce "Watson." This was a unique take on the Sherlock theme. However, I'm less a fan of the bumbling Watson this play and Nigel portrays and much prefer the highly intelligent, and best friend of Sherlock that the Conan novels show us.

This play is a very quick listen on Audible. And was fantastically narrated. It’s like an old time radio show.

good

Short and entertaining. It sounded a bit like the keystone cops routines. Enjoyable. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job.

Twisted good

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The is an interesting equation set of by an interesting character. To bad Holmes has to decide between catching the bad guy and saving an innocent man.

Mixed feelings on this story

while the overall story wasn't bad. The protrayal of Watson needs work and an audio book as a script feels jarring to listen too at points

One of the four new classic scripts in the world of Holmes

Ian shimwell has written four new classic scripts in the world of Holmes and Watson. They are available individually and also now as a completed volume. I grew up with a love for the old basil rathbone and Nigel Bruce black and white Holmes movies. This story is written and performed in that same spirit. Truly a wonderful addition to any Holmes fans collections. Highly recommended. The narrators deliver that old time movie/radio show feel. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Mixed feelings

I love Sherlock Holmes and this story was interesting, but it was done in a screenplay format. I'm not sure if the author was trying to create his own style or if he was just to lazy to write out the story. Much of the action is read like screen direction/cues to actors, etc --- ex: The camera focuses on Holmes' shoes...or...we find ourselves walking with Watson and Homes....
At first it was very distracting but I got somewhat used to it (still bothers me a bit).

The story itself is very simple and I feel the author uses Holmes' deductive abilities to avoid doing the "hard work" of setting up a complex story line. Rather it is a very linear story with Holmes simply figuring everything out with the reading getting few to no clues other than Holmes' declarations.

My opinion on the narration / narrator is very much the same as the story. I'm not sure I like the style. It tended to be very "over the top" and sometimes bordered on annoying. But...there were some really well acted scenes and it was enjoyable.

I'm not sure if I will stick with the series but I will try the next book for sure.

Sherlock

Sherlock Holmes and the Egyptian Equation by Ian Shimwell is a fun and exciting mystery. We see the worlds greatest detective and his trusty sidekick Watson solve yet another mystery. The narrator Kevin Theis did a excellent job bringing these famous characters to life. All in all I would recommend this one to anyone who is a Sherlock Holmes fan or likes a good mystery.

Old tv

This was an interesting listen as we had a long drive. We enjoyed listening to the old vaudeville type audio.
