Radclyffe
Special Crimes Unit investigator Detective Sergeant Rebecca Frye is attempting to solve a series of sexual assaults and running into dead ends at every turn. Finally, she has a break in the case - a witness. However, the one person who may help her bring a madman to justice is a victim herself. Rebecca must now convince the injured woman's physician to assist her, a task that will force both women to confront their own darkest fears. Amidst professional conflicts and a growing mutual attraction, the two women become reluctant allies in the battle to stop the perpetrator before he strikes again.

Narration doesn't capture it for me. The voices are all the same and I don't feel that the characters come alive as in other narration's I have heard before.
Good book, Narration is confusing

Yes, it does follow patterns of other books, but I enjoy every minute of it. Plus, TV shows, movies, books, and stories in general follow patterns. Duh! It is the content or elements that keep humans entertained and coming back for more. Radclyffe’s books give me what I want. ;-D
Great Radclyffe book!

I have always had a few issues with Radclyffe novels. for one I dislike how firmly the line is drawn between the butches and femmes. most people aren't that cut and dry. also, and more importantly, I dislike how incredibly similar the butches are as far as personality goes. Frye, Sloan, Mitchell, Sara and Dee are basically the same person with slight variations. I also get the feeling that in the authors mind the butches are hermaphroditice or perhaps genderless is more accurate. they aren't really women until the sex scenes and even then it's a bit blurry with them. It's highlighted by the fact that they use gender nutral pronouns when referring to their significant others i.e. lover, mate, partner. and while partner usually indicates a same sex relationship it's very rarely used. Sloan is married to Michal and yet only once refers to her as her wife and Michal never refers to Sloan that way.
this theme is carried through most of Radclyffe books. I also find it interesting that the most natural feeling relationship is with mitch/Mitchell and Sandy. Sandy is repeatedly called girlfriend and they have more natural chemistry. and the drag king persona feels like the writer felt good writing the dichotomy.
