Publisher's summary

Constance O' Day-Flannery is back, and better than ever with this new tale of magic and love.

Maggie O'Shea knows that because of her dark past, there's no place for love in her life. She owns a successful store in Philadelphia, where she uses her special gifts to help the people she meets. Though this doesn't fulfill her, she is content. Most of the time.

Entrepreneur Julian McDonald runs an empire. He's rich, cynical, bored - and not interested in relationships. He was in love, once, but since her death, there's been no space in his heart for anyone else.

Maggie knows as soon as she meets Julian that she could fall in love with him. But a secret society devoted to bringing the world back into balance has a mysterious agenda for Julian - and doesn't care about the heart's wish of a vulnerable shapeshifter...

good story but not so good narration

At least it was on sale. I like the story but the narrator is making it hard to keep going. While I normally like female narrators as they can usually do both a male and female voice, I am disppointed on this one. She drops the voice mid conversation and the male voices are barely distingushable as male. Definately a narrator to skip in the future. Maybe i'll try the writer on Kindle.

Beautifully Written

Shifting Love is wonderfully written story. Constance O'Day Flannery has done a magnificent job of blending the modern world with the supernatural world.

This book is the apitami of an author that knows how to write a fantasy novel that relies heavily on politics but does not shove her own beliefs down your throat. There was no bias to either party. In fact specific parties were never mentioned.

If you're looking to escape into a world where secret societies exist to keep balance throughout the universe, and fall in love along the way, then I would highly recommend picking up this book. If you do, I guarantee you will not be able to put it down.

We need The Foundation now!

This book may have been written in 2007, but it gave me chills at the way it parallels today's Orwellian politics. The more I got into the social story, the less I was concerned with the love story. The big disappointment was the narration. There was no distinction between the characters' voices. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Blah, barely able to finish it

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The narrator had the same voice most of the time, like she was reading the book to me, no emotion emoted. The book seemed to have things like shifting thrown in that really didn't have any impact on the story except at the end to add another chapter. I just really felt like I was being bounced all over.

Would you ever listen to anything by Constance O' Day-Flannery again?

Probably not.

Would you be willing to try another one of Andi Arndt’s performances?

not interested

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The female character had potential.
