About this listen

Happily ever after is easier said than done....

Sarah Matamoros can’t complain. After immigrating from Mexico when she was nine years old, she’s content with the life she’s made for herself in sunny San Diego. She works hard at her mother’s housecleaning service by day and spends the evenings with her quirky eight-year-old daughter, Grace.

From a very young age, Emory Owen had several concepts drilled into her head. Success is everything. Be the best. Fight your way to the top. Expectations were high in the Owen household and the world was watching. Born into a high society family, Emory never wanted for anything...at least anything money could buy. When she meets Sarah, hired to sort her mother’s home, her sterile life suddenly sparks into color.

But when the emotional logistics of combining two very different worlds proves to be too much, a terrifying turn of events spurs the question: If love exists, can it really find a way?

Stick with it

I read Heart Block shortly after it was released and loved it. I love the story, the humor, and the characters. It's a great romance novel.

I was in the mood to experience the story again but needed my eyes for other things so I decided to purchase the audio book. Within the first 30 minutes I was certain I'd be returning it. I really didn't like the way the narrator handled the voices at all. As the book went on, however, she seemed to settle into the voices more and I was able to enjoy the story.

If you're a fan of lesbian romance books, stick with this one and I don't think you'll be sorry.

Awesome Story

Would you listen to Heart Block again? Why?

This is one of those amazingly sweet love stories that I will enjoy revisiting over and over.

What other book might you compare Heart Block to and why?

None so far!!

Which character – as performed by Mia Chiaromonte – was your favorite?

Emery! The way she is able to alter the tone of the words as Emery grows throughout the story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

This was just a fun, sexy, sweet and lovable story.

I loved the story

The story itself was really good. there was a few moments the dialog was kinda cheesy but it made me smile so who doesn't like cheese.lol
the narration was great first time EVER there was a Hispanic leading role where the narration was able to portray the actual Acsent correctly. so that alone was amazing.
She dis have issues with the male characters.
I also wish the resolution happened a few chapters sooner so we could enjoy it more.
all in all it was a great book I loves it and will definitely recommend it to everyone.

Such a good story!

The characters were relatable and likable. I laughed out loud and cried at a few points. The narration was also wonderful. Many times narration can take away from an otherwise compelling story, but this one added to it. I highly recommend this title in audible format.

Too restrained. Author took no risks

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Ultimately no. The story was too predicable and the character not original.

If you’ve listened to books by Melissa Brayden before, how does this one compare?

I haven't

What aspect of Mia Chiaromonte’s performance would you have changed?

Her performance was okay.

Do you think Heart Block needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

no

Give it a chance

The first 3 chapters were slow and I almost stop listening to the rest as I though it was going to be a boring story but I was wrong. I like the fact both females were from different cultures and status and the struggles that both have to overcome because of this.

The narrator make the different voices (including the accent of one of the main females) which I like as I can differentiate each character.

Sweet and predicetable!

A cute, gentle novel, but wish it had more depth to the story. Brayden is the Queen of lightweighted lesbian romantic content.
