Shiloh Wheaton has spent four years recovering from the greatest tragedy of her young life - the accident that claimed her parents and left her with a ghastly scar across her face. Now 22, it’s time to leave Boston and start over fresh somewhere else. But where?
Widowed father - and the preacher of Shadow Gulch, Idaho - David Thompkins is seeking a mother for his five-year-old daughter. He writes to a matrimonial agency back east for a suitable bride.
Hoping this is the answer to her prayers, Shiloh agrees to move west and marry him.
But the handsome preacher is more than she bargained for. Can she face down the curious stares of the town? Can she win the love of the indifferent preacher? And can the two of them get past the tragedy that mars their wedding day even as the scar mars her face?

Loved It!

My heart went out to Shiloh because people were cruel to her when they saw her facial scar. They could not look past the disfigurement to see the person is truly is until she met David and his daughter Ruth.

She signs up to be a mail order bride and ends up betrothed to a widowed preacher - who hasn’t actually fully processed the loss of his wife.
It is a sweet little story with many many lovely elements, though at times it feels like it could have been built out even more.
The narrator has a lovely warmth in her voice and captures the dialogues between Shiloh and the preacher quite well. However, the narration is a bit more of a reading than performance, albeit still engaging and very enjoyable.
Cute story, though a bit short
