Publisher's summary

Would you have the courage to leave behind everything you know to marry a complete stranger? Two spirited sisters are about to test the limits of their strength.

It's 1864, and civil war is devastating the country. When a speaker at the church shows sisters Eliza and Maggie a copy of Matrimonial News and tells them of the opportunities for women as brides in the west, Eliza sees a glimmer of hope in a world of widows and spinsters. But she’s skeptical. Maggie is excited, and with their mother enthusiastic about a brighter future for her daughters, the sisters set off to the west to start a new life.

As the war rages on, some men have escaped the brutality, intent on making their fortunes in the gold mines out west. It’s a lonely life, and Marshall’s not the only one who craves a real home and a loving wife to return to each night. Placing an ad for a mail order bride seems like the perfect solution: Any woman willing to travel thousands of miles to marry a stranger is sure to have the adventurous spirit he longs for. And he’s not wrong.

Two years later, peace has finally arrived, but San Francisco is still in a state of turmoil. As police chief Matt Weston fights to restore order, his new bride, Eliza, is the ray of light amidst his struggles. While he works, Eliza hosts eager new brides from the east, but their love stories are not as straightforward as her own. Rose has fallen for a man, but not the right one, and Harriet already has a love in New York. Can Eliza help these young brides find the happiness she has?

In Mail Order Bride - The Journey Trilogy, you’ll be captivated by stories of the extraordinary young women brave enough to travel thousands of miles for love.

The Journey Trilogy : by Lea Wyatt

I really loved these stories! The narrator’s voice is really easy to listen too except when he changes his voice to sound like another character he is impersonating in the story. The voice’s do not portray the character’s . For me that throws the whole story off. Im waiting on the sheriff to sound like this big tough guy with an attitude as the character he to portraying in the story. When he speaks the voice does not sound like a tough sheriff, character . I want a rancher with a deep gruff voice. Leave in the narrator’s voice rather than disguising it . Or have another person read those parts. I will stop reading or listening to a book when this happens just because it wrecks the story. But this set of stories was so nice to listen to.

Historical, Mail Order Bride Romance

The Journey Trilogy
Western Mail Order Brides
By: Leah Wyett

Book one is set just after the Civil War. A widowed mother choose

husbands for her daughters from a paper called "Matrimonial News."
The young ladies head to San Francisco and new lives. There are some

surprises as well as predictable outcomes.

Book 2 and Book 3 continues on with the sisters story as well as

additional mail order brides. There are places the listener will find

happiness, sadness, surprise and even a bit of anger.

When all combined it makes for an interesting listen.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Michael

Reaves voice is a good choice for this genre.

The Journey

This is an interesting boxset of three very good books. There is a lot of educational things in it about San Francisco that I didn't know. It shows you a lot about what life was like in those days. This boxset if full of adventure and fun also. You get to follow two wemon on what would have to be a scary journey leaving what your used to . To go marry someone you don't know. I enjoyed this very much I highly recommend this book. Leah wyett wrote a great series. And Michael Reaves did an excellent job narraiting this book. If my review was any help will you please click the helpful link. Thank you

Great books!

I loved the books. The narrator was very good, I usually find myself bored with romance books but the story was great.
