About this listen

If you win the bet, we’ll let you disappear. If you lose, you’ll be trapped on stage forever.

Charlie

I'm definitely straight, but when rock god Eli Steele offers me the opportunity of a lifetime in exchange for being his fake husband for a year, I can't say no. That's how I find myself sharing a bed - and more than a few kisses - with the lead singer of Blood Money. All I have to do is stay focused on my work and pretend to be in love with him. Easy, right?

Eli

I took a stupid f--king bet, and now, I have to convince Charlie to fall for me without using mind control. He's straight, but the bigger problem is that he's human, and I'm not. Once he finds out I'm really a vampire, will he be able to look past my fangs and see what's in my heart?

Glad I took a chance on this!

This title had a few of my favorite tropes in one: M/M bi-awakening or gay-for-you, fake marriage rockstar romance featuring vampires! My only complaint is that it was so short! But as short as "Shot in the Dark" is, it was still satisfying. Both the author and the narrator are new to me and I was impressed with both. There were scenes where Andrew Morrison's voice relaxed me so much I felt as if I had slid into a warm bath

5 starz - I would listen again

a short but sweet vampire / human story

This book is short but sweet. It involves a vampire and a human, a rockstar and a geek and a fake relationship. Charlie and Eli’s story was fun and, at times, emotional. The narrator, Andrew Morrison, was very enjoyable to listen to.

A softer and sweeter vampire tale than you’re used to.

It all started with a bet. Eli’s friend and band mate makes a bet with him involving falling in love with a young man who is seen walking into the bar they are in.

Charlie is straight but can’t help the raw magnetism that pulls him toward the famous singer who has approached him. Charlie expresses his want to make a documentary about their band, but Eli refuses knowing that he and his band mates have secrets that the world cannot know about... but he makes Charlie an offer. If Charlie agrees to marry Eli and make it convincing to his band mates, Charlie can go on tour with them and secretly film his documentary.

Neither of them anticipate actually falling for the other. How will this work if Charlie doesn’t know he is jumping on a tour bus with a bunch of vampires?

This was adorable. This was a fast listen and I blew through it. Andrew Morrison is a very talented narrator who breathes life into these two men.

While this story was a little convenient and not surprising, it was so much fun. Who knew that soft vampires would be such entertaining reading material?

Shot in the dark

Thank you for the ARC audio, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. One bet is about to change thing for Eli leader of the bloodmoney. No tricks..No vampiric whims all to find love.
Enters the little human reporter Charlie. With a proposal for the young man Eli can finally see a way to retire from fame on one condition...Marriage. If Charlie goes through with this fake marriage, he will be getting the inside scoop for a documentary on the Famous Eli Steele  and his bandmates but what he doesn't know just maybe be his undoing. Only one set back Eli is about to run into a challenge Charlie is straight and the fact that he is human. One year then what? Can Charlie fight the pull of Eli and what will happened once the darker truth is revealed? Over all a sweetly done gay4you romance, with amazing characters.
Just blown away by narrator Andrew Morrison did an amazing job with these characters..it was a wonder to my ears to listen.

A deliciously steamy Rockstar vampire romance!

Eli is a vampire and the lead singer of Blood Money. He took on a bet and has to make a straight guy fall in love with him. But the more he tries to convince Charlie to fall for him without using mind control of course, he invaribly does the opposite and falls for the target himself.
If only he could convince the sweet human that his feelings for him are real and to look beyond him being the creature of the night.

This was a sweet vampires, Rockstar romance. Eli and Charlie were likeable characters and totally rooting for them from the start.
I loved the author's writing style and the world building they created.

Overall a fun, enjoyable low angst read. I just wish it was a tad longer.
I couldn't get enough of Eli and Charlie they were all too adorable.

The narration was enjoyable and entertaining.

I did imagine Eli's voice a bit different in mind head when I read the ebook. But it still was an enjoyable listen overall.

Need more

Shot in the Dark by Rily Long combines vampires, rockers, MM, and gay for you all into one and creates an entertaining story that I enjoyed listening to.
STORY: 4 STARS

This was a good story that pulled you in almost immediately. A bet was made, a plan plotted, and in a year everything would be fine. Even if the person Eli, a vampire, is supposed to make fall in love with him without using tricks is completely straight. Charlie figures this is a way to get the inside scoop on a famous rocker. But so much more happens. The emotion and story meld together with steam. The story is well-written and entertaining, although I do wish a few things were expanded upon, it didn't distract from the overall story.

NARRATION: 4.5 STARS

Andrew Morrison does a good job acting the story out, bring the characters to life. Each character has their own personality and Andrew brings all of those nuances out in his narration.

OVERALL: 4.5 STARS

Overall, I'm giving this audiobook 4.5 stars and highly recommend you either read the book or listen to the story. It's well-written and a good read. There are a few things I wish I had more of, but nothing that took too much away from the story. One-click today.
