About this listen

Planting and leading churches is a difficult calling. It can put strain on your mental and physical health, on your relationships with others, and even your relationship with God. Sifted offers practical guidance and hope for anyone going through a tough time in ministry or pastoral work.

Founding pastor of New Hope Christian Fellowship in Honolulu, Hawaii Wayne Cordeiro speaks the truth in love, offering wisdom and insight to walk alongside leaders as they face the challenges and hardships of planting and leading churches, while providing encouragement and inspiration for the journey.

A seasoned church leader, Wayne shares the things he wishes he'd known when he was starting a new church.

With additional stories from Francis Chan and Larry Osborne, each chapter includes a thought-provoking challenge question to develop a heart that is surrendered to God, focused on "being and becoming" versus "doing and accomplishing."

Wayne will walk you through how to develop a healthy balance of personal care and spiritual leadership. But instead of a "how to" book on models and methods from men who have it all figured out, Sifted will help you process your journey in a way that:

  • Challenges leaders' common scorecards of success.
  • Encourages leaders to realize that they are not alone in what they are experiencing.
  • Provides wisdom for the long haul to position younger leaders for a life of ministry.

You many find yourself in a season of sifting. If you respond correctly, this season can be every bit as important as the time of harvest. Sifting builds the muscle of faith, giving us what we need for what lies just around the corner.

Yes, he did say that!

Would you listen to Sifted again? Why?

Yes, I find Francis Chan to be the greatest pastor that I have ever met. I have met some of the greatest men of our time but none have walked the talk as Francis has. Who do you know will tithe 50%?

Who was your favorite character and why?

Francis Chan, he has the ability to tell you and say things in such a manner that you would not allow any one to tell you. Francis loves those he preaches to so much that he will say it and yes it might sting for a second but it is spiritual medicine.

Any additional comments?

If you ever have the opportunity to see Francis preach, go! He is amazing. Please remember that he I human and is not God but the Spirit does flow from his words.

No one wants to be sifted, but this is a good read

Excellent book. Sifting isn't fun, but is good to know the outcome comes from God for His glory. Sift on God.
I bought this for my staff to read.

Great book for instruction & encouragement!!

Would you listen to Sifted again? Why?

Yes, the journey with Christ is seasonal. We face trying times and need to be reminded we are not alone and that God has a purpose for all our experiences.

great content.

I struggled to get started because the narrator's voice and style is so far from the authors... once I pressed on to separate the two, I could get thru it, but the choice of narrator made it difficult. The content however, was exactly what encouraged and inspired me to press on in my calling as a children's pastor. Thank you Pastor Wayne.

Great read

"The question is not whether we will suffer, the question is how we choose to suffer. We can suffer purely taking offense to what others will say growing bitter because we aren't getting what we deserve. It we can suffer according to Gods "

Timely book

I’m in a season of transition after a season of sifting. I didn’t know I was being sifted until reading this book. Truly well timed for me, and I’d encourage anyone in a ministry transition to read this book. Whether planting, or transitioning it would be worth your time.
