About this listen

The best-selling author of When The Bough Breaks, Blood Test, and Over The Edge delivers the most stunning novel yet, featuring psychologist-detective Dr. Alex Delaware.

At a party for a controversial Los Angeles sex therapist, Alex encounters a face from his own past: Sharon Ransom, an exquisite, alluring lover who left him abruptly more than a decade earlier. Sharon now hints that she desperately needs help, but Alex evades her. The next day she is dead, an apparent suicide. Driven by guilt and sadness, Alex plunges into the maze of Sharon's life - a journey that will take him through the pleasure palaces of California's ultra-rich, into the dark closets of a family's disturbing past, and finally into the alleyways of the mind, where childhood terrors still hold sway.

"A complex and haunting story of tangled personalities, deeply buried family secrets, and of violence lying thinly under the surface ... Hits the reader right between the eyes." ( Los Angeles Times Book Review)

Most disappointing

Always loved Alex Delaware novels.
This one was terrible. It must have been at the very beginning of the series. Alex’s relationship with girlfriend, which runs through all the other novels adds a lot to those. The relationship takes so much away from this book. They don’t get along and it’s is just a simple but very negative space filling portion of the story. Adds nothing to the book.
Also not a narrator I recognized from any other reading, let alone a Kellerman novel, and I have over 700 books in my library. But, I will not buy a book that uses this narrator. Even if you LOVE the Delaware series, I’d save your money. I am asking for mine back.
I just didn’t have the time to keep calling Audible sooner, their computer has been down and couldn’t get through. First time in 7 years that has happened. Audible is great, just frustrating getting stuck with a poor book. Hope this gets you to think twice before purchasing Silent Partner by Kellermen.

Disappointing..not worth the credit.

Way too convoluted and choppy. Robin is whiney. Not enough Milo. Not worth the credit.

One voice for all doesn't do it for me.

I love the book, but it could use more than one narrator. One for men and one for women. However, I will continue to buy this series because I just love Alex and Milo.

Take notes

It was a good story …. I like the series. It just got a bit convoluted and really long and some spots. There are so many characters and back-and-forth in the histories/timeline that you’re going to want to take notes of who he is talking about. and what year

More complexity

This story twists and turns with the best of them. Just when I thought I understood, I realized I did not understand. This is another fascinating Jonathan Kellerman Alex Delaware listen!

Another good Delaware novel

Jonathan Kellerman never disappoints. His detective novels are so very different than most that I read. Sort of feels like a break. But they are very intense and you have to have the time to pay close attention.

Good story, but....

Good story but too many gratuitous graphic female anatomy references. Leave out unnecessary sexual language and get on with it! I am not a prude but enough is enough. There is such a thing as common decency.

As for the narrator... sounds older that Alex is perceived, and leaves many overly long pauses, often in mid sentence, which leads one to believe It is the end of a chapter. Totally wrong for Davenport. Won’t purchase further books narrated by him.

I did not finish book. Too many distracting factors. Wasn't THAT Interesting.

Crazy twists and turns of this personality disorder.

This was a typical Alex Delaware novel with the storyline unfolding carefully with dialogue between Alex and Milo. Well done.
