The New York Mafia has been around for decades, and the Giuliani’s have ruled their criminal empire with an iron first. But wait. There’s an upstart waiting in the wings, and the Lombardi’s are about to claw their way in, thanks to the decline of the city’s ruling family.
The prize to be had in the upcoming battle is New York Harbor. The warriors? Francesco Giuliani, the bad-boy son and enforcer of the family, and Jessica Lombardi, her family’s lawyer who has learned the business from her father and brother.
New York, already on alert when two crime bosses are murdered, is now flooded with NYPD and FBI, all chasing after the culprits.
When Francesco and Jessica meet, the sparks fly, but will that be enough to stop the two families from tearing apart not just the city, but their love?

So the storyline was fantastic! I really have a thing for mafia books and this one was full on unpredictable… and the twists in it! Gahhh!!! I’m not going into the plot because this is a surprising story with characters you’ll either love or love to hate!
Give it some time!! It'll grow on you!

I had never read or listened to anything by this author but as I love a good crime story, particularly mafia stories I thought I would give it a listen. The author's take on organized crime and Mafia crime families in NYC is interesting and it hit all the right notes in my opinion. It's well-written, I thought the storyline was reminiscent of the old black and white films I remember watching on TV. It's about the heyday of the Mafia when crime families were fighting for power and control and building their kingdoms, by whatever means necessary. The characters were nicely developed.
Francesco, the son of the Giuliani family, is an arrogant and narcissistic man. Jessica Lombardi has been living abroad, getting her law degree but now she's home and she wants in on the family business. But both her father and her brother refuse to involve her and aren't giving her enough responsibility. When Francesco and she meet there's instant chemistry between them, a forbidden relationship develops. The story was a rollercoaster full of action, drama, intrigue, suspense, and romance.
The narration by Freddy Moyano was performed well, he did all the voices for all the characters, bringing them to life-giving and imbuing them with a strong sense of personality and attitude. His accents were realistic and made the book have a more gritty real feel to it.
I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Frank Lucianus wrote a strong mafia romance, Romeo and Juliette style, with many facets to it, which kept it interesting, as did the way it was written by the different characters views and thoughts .
Freddys vocal characterisation was really good making it easy to differentiate between characters.
Worth taking the time to get used to the strong accent if you like mafia wars, love, crooked cops and FBI agents with an agenda and stories with a twist!

Now onto the book! The book had a bit of a slow start but if you stick with it, it is definitely worth it to listen all the way to the end. The end has a surprise that you will not want to miss.
