About this listen

Noted "Most Quotable Player" of 1993 by 72 sportswriters, hailed "impossible to guard or muzzle" by The New York Times, Charles Barkley is known as much for his outrageous observations about life as his talent on the basketball court. In this audio program, the living American sports legend goes one-on-one with himself, commenting on the quips and quotes that have made him a newsmaker. Aside from his wit and wisdom, you'll hear an exclusive (and outrageous) audio interview with sportswriter Rick Reilly - a pro at banter with the superstar. Barkley may be predictable in his high scores on the court, but in person, he's a live wire who can - and does - explode in any direction.©1994 Charles Barkley Enterprises, Inc., All Rights Reserved (P)16 9; 1994 Time Warner AudioBooks, A Joint Venture of The Atlantic Group and Time Warner Trade Publishing Basketball

Such a turn on

Rick Reilly is better at print journalism than audio, in my opinion, because he comes off sounding like a jerk in this interview. Sir Charles, on the other hand, is revealed to be a smart, thoughtful and authentic gentleman --- oh yeah, and a fierce competitor. .

Print vs Audio

This book was written a while ago, but remains a classic because of Sir Charles' insight of the world. It's extra-special to hear Charles read it himself. I always appreciate Charles' honesty and willingness to say the truth, even if it's not what everyone wants to hear or even if it's not politically correct. Very few people in the public eye are that brave.
