A skincare party turns into murder and Stormi is called to save the day! When Stormi is roped in for attending a party her sister is hosting, in her latest string of "get rich quick" schemes, Stormi has no idea that the night will result in one woman's death. Her sister is devastated and pleads with Stormi to help her clear her name. Not wanting to be involved in another murder, Stormi balks...until she receives threats warning her to keep her nose out of the murder. Anyone who knows her knows that Stormi isn't one to back down when her life is threatened through no fault of her own. She would never have suspected that someone dear to her heart would be behind the rash of crimes. Her investigations result in her trying to lead a young gang member and a group of prostitutes away from their lives of crime, even while fighting to save herself and her family.

What happens when a makeup party turns deadly?

Stormi and her wacky clan are back! I loved the first two Nosy Neighbor Mystery books and Skin Care Can Be Murder was no exception! I will say that this one was a little different than the previous two, in that instead of straight cozy mystery author Cynthia Hickey also adds an element of what I would definitely call suspense. However, run-ins with gang members have never been quite so fun, and in places funny. There were a lot of twists and turns in this book and some real surprises. Just wait until you read what the murder weapon is!

I did find Skin Care Can Be Murder to be a little darker in some ways, and there was some violence that was a little surprising in a cozy mystery, but it really does help to keep the series from becoming stale. I also have to admit that this was probably one of the most unique murder locations I've ever read in book, an MLM party featuring makeup and skincare products. Who would have thought one of those could be so dangerous? I loved it!

The audiobook version of Cynthia Hickey's third book in her Nosy Neighbor Mystery series was pretty good. I like the narrator quite a bit, it's the same one as book 2, and, other than a couple of brief hiccups with the recording the production was excellent.

Great series, great story, great audiobook! Don't miss it!

(I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are entirely my own.)
