About this listen

I put out fires for a living. I can take some heat. But Maisie drives me crazy. She’s smart-mouthed, sarcastic, and argumentative. This town’s too small for both of us. But she works for me. Unfortunately.

It’s a big no-no for me to want her. She's brash and beautiful and tempts me beyond distraction. There are different kinds of fire, and this one will make her melt. There’s only one problem: this fire might be too hot for both of us.

Great listen

I'm loving this series! The chemistry between this couple started in the first book. I loved seeing them both fall when neither thought they would.

Enjoyable story, though not as hot as the Alaskan fires

Although the writing is slightly repetitive, it doesn’t irritate me to the extent that it takes away the enjoyment in the story.

I like the storyline and the main characters. The steamy parts could have been hotter IMO. I would have enjoyed it, when not only the fires burned.

I’ve partly read and partly listened to this book. I wasn’t overly fond of the performance, especially Christian Rummel is speaking too fast for my liking.

Slow burn

This book was lovely to read. A romance between two people who don't have good abilities to fall in love.

Really enjoying this series!

I thought that book 1 was hawt but, whew, the chemistry between Beck and Maisie was smoking!
Hot shot captain, Beck Steele, is a bit of a player...that is until he meets Maisie. The prickly 911 call center operator is a force to be reckoned with...and she has the hots for Beck...even though she won’t admit it. We also caught up with the characters from book 1, which was great. Maisie has never had anyone to depend on growing up, except for her maternal grandmother in Willow Brook, Alaska. She looked forward to her summers there and, she decides to put down roots there after the death of Grams. Beck has to work hard to break down Maisie’s walls and he and Grams’ friend, Janet, show her that it’s ok to depend on others. Just when things are going well, Maisie’s deadbeat dad shows up and she retreats back into her shell. Is this the end of Beck and her fledgling relationship?
Loved the HEA...looking forward to more in the series

Ok

Wish there would of been more of a story line instead of lots of sex scenes, for the most part it was an ok story... I did fast forward through some of it to find the story

Story ok, awesome narration!

This is my second read in the series by Croix and I was enjoying it at first but then lost interest. I did finish and thought Beck and Maisie had a nice story arc, but the playboy-turned-committed partner storyline was a bit boring. Maisie's dialogue of "it's not serious" and "we can't last" etc. was a tad annoying and not the kind of conflict that makes a compelling story for me. Lots of steamy scenes and overall I enjoyed their love story.

Narrators nailed it!! Christian Rummel was outstanding, and Savannah Richards as well. I will look for more of their narrations!

All About Sex

I was disappointed with this book 2nd in series seem like whole relationship was built on sex. Nothing like 1 st book. Not sure if I will read rest or not.

Slow Burn and Sweet

Maisie and Beck really have chemistry and a lot of sparks. I really enjoy this book and the performance was amazing. Christian is definitely in my favorites now. Can’t wait for more.

Great story

I really enjoyed this book and the narration. Even though it’s the second book in the series it can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone.
