Her Christmastide wish didn’t turn out how she’d hoped....

Lady Adeline Carwyn has one wish for Christmastide: to experience love. Her yearning is answered in the form of Devon Hayes, the earl of Winchester. He’s handsome as sin and as roguish as they come. Their encounter is magical and she’s happy to spend Christmas Eve in his arms. She has doubts that come morning he will still profess to love her and considers his words of endearment nothing but empty promises, even when she wants to believe him. When her father, the duke of Whitewood, finds them in a compromising situation, everything changes. Lady Adeline is in an untenable situation she should have prevented. While she doesn’t regret her night with Connor, she does wish in the morning light his love could be real.

Devon never expected to discover an enchanting lady at the Christmas house party he’d been invited to, but at first glance he’s completely smitten. He pursues her ruthlessly, without any idea what he intends if he should catch her. When she falls willingly into his arms, he thanks providence for bringing her to him, but things change when his freedom is at stake. He is forced to question everything about himself, and has to make a decision that should not be difficult for a man in love.

Will Devon propose marriage or, more importantly, love Adeline at all if they are forced to wed?

Another Great Addition to the Series

This was another great addition to the series as well as being a joyful Holiday read. I found the book to be well written while Isobel Smith did a great job of bringing the story to life and making this as fun to listen to as it was to read.

short romance

A short story about an Earl who had mistaken Adeline for a servant in the house party he was attending. In the short time, their feelings had grown and then the conflict that happened.
Was entertained by the story though it was really short and it was a whirlwind romance. Was shocked with the Duke's response especially this seem to happen during those times. Lady Adeline was a different sort of heroine.
If you like a quick story and liked the Linked across time series, this might be for you. (NOTE: Has mature scene_.

His Christmas Minx

Book fifteen in the Linked Across Time series, Lady Adeline Carwyn and Devon Hayes, the earl of Winchester's story. The Christmas story is well written with twists, turns, drama, mistaken identity and romance. I enjoyed listening to Isobel Smith's story as she brings this story to life.

Addie and Devon

Devon is invited to a Christmas party. He assumes the lady he sees in a maid’s apron and cleaning, is indeed a maid. As is common in historical books, he also assumes the maid is of easy virtue, flirts, and develops instalust. He decides to spend more time flirting with the maid, and see if she is interested in a private party. Addie, is not a maid, but the Duke of Whitewood ‘s daughter. The two are attracted to each other and need to work through their own hang ups to make the romance work. The story is a novella. It is entertaining, and well written. The characters have their own unique personalities. The narration was well done. I received a free copy of this audiobook from BookSprout and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Mistaken Identity

Devon is determined to have a fling with Addie, the lovely maid he met in the duke’s library. He hadn’t wanted to come to the party, but she might make it worthwhile. Imagine his surprise when he succeeds only to come face to face with the duke who wants to know why he just ruined Adelaide, his daughter. Will he offer for her, leave, or face the duke (who might have been a pirate at one time)? This is an enjoyable story with some secrets, surprises, and fun. Isobel Smith's narration is quite enjoyable.

Sweet Romance

This is book 15 in the Linked Across Time. Adeline/Addie and Devon's story is sweet and heartwarming. I liked their instant attraction and the twist in the story. This is a great addition to the series. Isobel Smith did a good job bringing this story to life. Looking forward to listening to Vision of Love, the next book in the series. “Hero” Neither Gentleman nor Honorable

If you're a fan of historical romance and despise lords who like to dally with the help, you will grievously dislike the hero probably as much as I did. No, this is not a across-the-social-divide romance. Rather, the hero mistakenly believes the heroine, actually a duke's daughter, is a maid of the duke's household, not a part of the family. He develops instalust, determines he will have her before the house party is over, and even brags with his friends about eventually getting together with the maid … with another friend saying that he'll do the deed if his friend cannot. Sickening, especially in a holiday romance, which I believe should always be respectful to the reason for the season. He did not improve even after she very foolishly gave it up without the benefit of marriage. (Note to authors: understand the distinction between “maidenhood” and “maidenhead.”) I so dislike when historical heroines have a much more modern sensibility about intimacy than young, sheltered, noble young women would have had 200+ years ago. Her thoughts were certainly more worldly in that regard than they should have been, and her willingness to so quickly do the deed just doesn't ring historically true. Even after this intimacy, the hero was still a jerk .. not an honorable or decent bone in his body. Frankly, when her father threatened to gut him, I actually wished he did. Never a good thing in a romance! The hero didn't turn around until the end, and it was utterly unbelievable. Similarly unbelievable was now the heroine supposedly fell in love with this terrible hero despite how he treated her. Have a little self-respect, girl! Not recommended.
