nice but not swoon worthy

I enjoyed this reading. I was okay with it being a christian novel even tho i typically prefer my historical romance with just a taste of passion. the author does give u steamy kissing but if u want more go elsewhere. Also, as a Christian I didnt expect to be bothered by God talk however it is kinda heavy and central to the plot. I dont know how I felt about the main characters actually hearing God speak to them or the deceased father. otherwise i enjoyed the story and just didnt get wrapped up in it. The reason for the H and H not getting together sooner seemed kind of contrived.

Loved Listening to this book!

Set in Massachusetts 1773-1774 this historical romantic drama grabbed my attention and did not let go. Eliza Campbell, only twenty years old, feels the weight of responsibility on her as her father dies, leaving her with a secret she cannot tell, even to her younger sister Kitty, Robert Campbell's dying words to her are "find the truth." There is money for them to live on, so that isn't a worry. Finding that truth and the danger it could bring is.
Thomas Watson is being blackmailed by a villainous Red Coat, Samuel Martin. Thomas tries to do the right thing by giving just enough information to the man to keep his family safe. Samuel is evil and threatens more harm.
Thomas learns that something he told the blackmailer has put Robert Campbell's daughters in danger. He rushes to their house and rescues them just before the soldiers arrive.
That is all the description I am going to give. There is so much drama in the escape. Thomas helps Eliza learn the truth she promised her father she would find. They fall in love but are each afraid of admitting it, when they finally do, WOW!
There were a few slow moments of everyday life in the middle of the book, but they quickly passed. The author writes quite a riveting scene when the Boston Tea Party is just a side note to the drama that is taking place in the Campbell home.
The narrator does a really good job of bringing out all the emotions in the book.
The ending is fantastic! There are no cliffhangers but I do look forward to listening to the next book.

loved the story!

I really enjoyed the story if this, but the narrator, while she did a great job, has a very soothing voice. I enjoy audible while working out or doing chores, but the narrator, has a very soothing voice. While I didn't go to sleep or anything, neither was I able to use it for motivation or momentum! lol!

Excellent!

This is my first read by this author and I am impressed! I was hooked from the very beginning and it kept my attention until the end. Interesting plot, characters, great action and romance rolled into one memorable story that has me eager for more from this author/narrator combo. I highly recommend!

Too graphic

I don't like inflections and "acting" by the reader. This was only my second audible book so maybe this is the norm. I am also reading Taylor Caldwell so this book may suffer by comparison.
