In the heart of Arizona, nestled among the red rocks and lush orchards, two vastly different worlds collide.

When Lori Hawthorne trades her high-powered city life for the unexpected inheritance of her late aunt's neglected fruit farm in Sedona, Arizona, she soon realizes that mending a broken orchard is only half the battle. Seeking a chance to rewrite her story, she's determined to breathe new life into both the farm and her own existence.

Gemma Walker, newly released from prison, is searching for a fresh start and a chance to rebuild her life. When a unique rehabilitation program brings her to Rosefield Farm, she finds solace in the nurturing routine of farm life and the unexpected kindness of her new employer.

As Gemma grapples with her past and Lori unearths family secrets, an unlikely love blossoms and they're reminded that even in the harshest landscapes, hope can take root and flourish.

I liked learning about an experience of prison from an inmate and the. character development and healing of her past. The other characters were all also well developed showing their flaws, regrets, and healing as well. I enjoyed the setting in Sedona and the intimacy of the protagonists as they opened their hearts and gained trust in each other.and started a new life together.

This book is more than a romance. It’s focus is healing from past mistakes and trying to find the “why” in our behaviors. Why some of us choose the same type of partner over and over again, even when we realize that we’re actually catering to the negativity, and diminishing of our own self worth. Why one person will black out in rage, and do something that may seem justified, but still brings a prison sentence.
How by only reaching the bottom of a lonely well of grief, and despair can one reverse course and choose to work toward the light.
Gemma and Lori find themselves, exploring their backgrounds, and childhoods to find answers to how they became the women they are, and how not to repeat their own past mistakes, but those of their mothers as well.
Fantastic, alternating narrations bring Gemma and Lori their own unique individuality.
This is a thoughtful, well developed story, with a wonderful, quirky bunch of supporting characters. I really hope the author continues with a book two, as I feel there’s so much more story to tell.

Lise Gold writes such beautiful stories.

Lori and Gemma come together at a turning point in their lives... where they're both looking for a fresh start. They easily form a bond that quickly develops into something more.

This story is not just about romance, but also about healing. Each woman has a past to contend with and is there for each other as they try to accept and move on in order to create a brighter future.

Oh, and there's a cute little puppy named Lemon.

Easy and smooth story of finding love and understanding. Narration was super too. Loved the characters and setting.

Appreciated the second chance love theme. Despite the soap opera style performance by one of the narrators (Tessa) and some highly implausible plot points (for example, inheriting a fruit farm in Sedona that can sustain itself on wholesale and farmer’s market sales), the overall story, the characters who grow, and a plot without too much angst, were all worth the listen.

Feel good story

I loved the vivid description of the orchard and the old farmhouse. Perfect depth to the characters involved. Gold does an excellent job of covering the topic of domestic violence, physical and emotional trauma and life in prison

Excellent story. Amazing setting. Great characters.

The storyline was very interesting. A felon and the farmer was a concept that I would never have thought of working out. This story just did.
