About this listen

A lighthearted lesbian romance about shattering comfort zones and finding your place in the world where you least expect it.

New Yorker Hayley Reed is so over life, her crappy apartment, and her two jobs as a cook and bartender. When she wins a contest to swap lives with someone for a year, all expenses paid, she's ecstatic. That is until she finds herself on a remote Australian cattle station with basic food, empty views, and an attractive butch station hand who clearly dislikes her.

Jenna Dwyer wouldn't live anywhere except Ghost Gum Station. It'd be bliss except now she's stuck mentoring a clueless American city slicker who's the worst jillaroo ever to straddle a horse. But staying aloof from Hayley is difficult when she's obviously trying so hard . . . and is just so annoyingly cute.

Under the long, endless skies and despite a simmering attraction, can two such opposite women ever find a way to connect?

Contains mature themes.

Love the Outback

Switcheroo is a wonderful journey of a displaced New Yorker embarking on a whole new life well outside her comfort zone. Be prepared to fall in love not just with the characters, but also with the landscape and the crew. Cheyenne Blue writes brilliantly about ranch life, describing the ranch tasks, the area's vastness, as well as the beautiful quiet moments.

Cat Gould is amazing as usual, capturing the character nuances along the emotional journey.

Wonderful

I'm not qualified to judge - but personally, this book was perfection. The locals, the narration, the characters.... everything is spot on. A wonderful book.

This felt straight

I really tried to give this one the old college try- but the story really fell flat for me. The story itself very much felt very tell what’s happening rather than show. The intimacy scene read as if the author has never experienced intimacy to that degree, or perhaps with a woman at all. It felt forced, it felt very written as a straight person musing on what a sapphic relationship would look like. The narrator took me out of it with her attempt at the accent. I could not get past how it sounded. I made it to the last two hours of listening before DNF the title.
