About this listen

Twins Thomas and Ashley Ross knew at a young age that their gift - the ability take on another person’s memories - would eventually be used for the “good” of humanity. But it would come at a price.

Contracted with the government from age 12 until their 18th birthday, the twins would be forced to endure the destructive process that had taken the lives of many other children like them.

As each day passes, they wonder if survival is even possible, or worse: Will it even matter when they’re already broken beyond repair?

Intense story with deep characters.

The struggle these characters face are otherworldly yet the author manages to write in a way that the reader can easily relate and connect with them. Superb storytelling, beautifully written, and narrated. Definitely recommend. You cannot walk away from this story with a binary mindset. It forces you to apply non-dualistic thinking to real human problems even though it’s set in a sci-fi world. Just fantastic.

Unique-intriguing

The storyline and writing are tight and immersive. I was particularly drawn in by how unique this book is. A “one of” and I was glad I found it. The themes were understated but definitely there- concepts about the cost of justice and the characteristics and rights to one’s inner life. I’m not sure I’d want to “see” mine third person. As I’ve come to appreciate, the narrators are some of the best in the business - they never fail to make a really good book great.

Soul Mirrors

I am very impressed by this debut. I wish that audible had recommended it to me, instead I stumbled across it. I don't easily give 5-star reviews but I think this new author deserves it. This was different from anything else I have read. Can't wait for his next book.
