About this listen

What secrets lie shrouded in darkness?

Okay, so jogging through Central Park after midnight wasn't a bright idea. But Margrit Knight never thought she'd encounter a dark new world filled with magical beings, not to mention a dying woman and a mysterious stranger with blood on his hands. Her logical lawyer instincts told her it couldn't all be real, but she could hardly deny what she'd seen...and touched.

The mystery man, Alban, was a gargoyle. One of the fabled Old Races who had hidden their existence for centuries. Now he was a murder suspect, and he needed Margrit's help to take the heat off him and find the real killer. And as the dead pile up, it's a race against the sunrise to clear Alban's name and keep them both alive.

solid as a rock

This was a great listen, and a new direction of story lines for this author. If you enjoyed the other books you will definetly like this. Good story for the genere with romance and humor. Has a Neil Gaimen feel, buy not quite on the same level, a good start though. Not a waste of time or money. I look forward to the next addition.

Nice series

I really enjoyed this series! Had to get used to hearing 3rd person b/c most of the books I've been listening to (Southern Vampire Series, Anita Blake, The Hollows Series) were in 1st person. Book was kind of slow at first, but it definitely grew on me! I've recommended it to all my friends that like urban fantasy type books.

Great Fantasy!

I thought this story was good, but it wasn't I can't stop listening good. It probably shouldn't be listed in romance cause barely a kiss happens in this book. Definitely not a waste of money. Right at about average.

Pleased and delighted with narrator and author

I read some of the reviews after I read this book and contrary to some reviewers, I found the narrator delightful. All of her accents were different and I had NO problem differentiating her characters. She made the book come alive. The author is new to me and I found her writing style extemely enjoyable and down-to-earth. I look forward to listening to more in this series. I highly recommend her work and the narrator.

Love it!

I loved reading this book and loved the narrator too. Her voice was perfect and you always knew which person, in the story, was talking.

THE TRUTH!!!!!

After listening to some of the reviews, I was skeptical about using a credit on this book. Due to my better judgement and not following the negative reviews, this book was excellent. After reading another favorite, Blood Mark Of A Shadow Walker by Jeanetta King, she also introduce you, the reader, into a new world with mystical creatures and magic. C. E. Murphy delivered a unique story and I’ve already purchased the second book, House Of Cards.

If you can get past the Narrator...

What made the experience of listening to Heart of Stone the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed the story and would really like to say I will get the others in the series but I have not finished this book due to the narration....I am sorry people but this gal is very boring for me.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Eve Bianco?

Wow.....Jill Redfield, Lorelei King, Khristiine Hvan, Renee Raudman just to name a few....

Any additional comments?

As I already said...I liked the story and all but have not finished it because of the narration. I will eventually listen to the rest as I want to know what happens but the rest of the series? Not so sure.....finding out there are really things out there that go bump in the night...I like to see how they are handled.

Opportunity missed

An interesting connection to the topic of racism is only suggested in this book. A more complex and thoughtful treatment of it would have made all the difference. Vocabulary issues also detracted. Ms. Murphy should never use the words "palpable" or "belie" again.
