About this listen

It's the 25th century, and the American President has taken over the world. Meanwhile, after a cleaner unplugged his cryogenic freezing machine by accident, Detective Inspector Capstan wakes up to find that he's been in a state of suspended animation for more than 400 years. As he's forced to adjust to life in the future, he finds himself reinstated as a policeman, and together with the great-great-great-great-grandson of his former subordinate, Sergeant Dewbush, he's put on the case of a missing cow.

Especially for the first in a series! Clever and well read. Looking forward to more!

Well done!

I liked it. This one is a hit or miss I suspect. Most will love it, but some will miss the humor here. Feels a lot like the popular Space Team adventures, and I mean that is a good way. I'll certainly see what else this author has to offer!

Simple silly fun

It’s a fun book and it was just what I was looking for.
A simple story with funny twists and turns.
And fantastic narration that brings the story together.
I want to read and hear the other books in the series.
Now please :)

Fun book with a great narrator

The story was funny and the narrator brought it all together. The President's American accent was great!

Fantastic Narrator

The story was kind of fun. Every time I got to enjoy something about a character it was never flushed out, everything felt static. The story ended abruptly without any real resolution. I assume this will be book 1 in a series

I want to give a.passable grade for this attempt, but it feels like a second or 3rd draft. it isn't easy to write humor and I appreciate what was crafted here. I will probably get the next one to try and hear if he made a better book.

Fun perspective not fully developed.

Story is fun, but not much is explored. The setting is given in exposition. The characters have little development. The main character wakes up to find out his wife, children, friends, and colleagues are long dead. But he acts as indifferent to it as he would the weather.
That said, it's the first book, and look forward to future ones.

A Cold Open

This book was referred to me because it was funny. It is not only the most boring, droll book ever but it’s repetitive. We get that the robot and the GPS and everything else do nor hear you the first, second, and third time that you speak you don’t have to go through the conversation on repeat for eight or more times. Horrible

Police man from the past, becomes police man in the future and then hunts for expensive cows.

The danger with absurdist comedy is that it tends to be very binary; it either connects with you or it doesn't. If you don't get hooked on the premise, then the books as a whole isn't gong to make you laugh. I'm usually a big fan of the genre, but this book didn't connect with me at all.

IF demolition man was an absurdist comedy
