About this listen

Research suggests that the first six months of life are the most critical to a child’s development of language skills. For an individual to become sufficiently skilled in any language, they must be exposed to the language as early as possible, preferably before school age.

  • Is your child saying single words and starting to put two words together?
  • Can your child share a simple turn-taking game without having a tantrum?
  • Can your child understand simple instructions?
  • Can your child express their needs without getting frustrated?
  • Can you understand what your child wants, without guessing?

If you want to change the answers to the above questions from no to yes, then you are on the right page!

Follow the advice and strategies written by a speech and language therapist.

Learn when and how the zero- to five-year-old children develop their understanding, talking, and playing skills.

If your toddler’s communication and play skills are delayed, learn how delayed they are and how you can help them close that gap.

  • Get top tips to help your child develop speech, language, and play skills

Great Speech Development guide book for children

It is helpful that this book has the ages and stages of speech and language development so I know exactly what my child should be understanding and saying at this age. The recommended games at the end of the book is a useful guide to encourage a busy parent like me to plan ahead a playtime with my kids even as short as 5 minutes.

Informative & Helpful

My 20 month old speaks way less than my 3 year old did at the same age. I was worried about a speech delay and this book helped me identify that although his words may be slightly delayed, his understanding of language and vocabulary, and his communication skills are actually advanced for his age. I will use the strategies provided in the book to encourage new words. I am happy that I know what to realistically expect during each new stage of development moving forward too. Thanks!!
