About this listen

The New York Times best-selling Tunnels series continues with this fifth installment from acclaimed authors Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams. In Spiral, horror spreads across England in the form of the Styx, malevolent creatures carrying a dark secret that could spell doom for all Topsoilers. All is not lost, however. Will Burrows and a small band of former commandos vow to stomp out the threat - even if it means placing their lives in mortal danger.

Left kinda hanging for another

Too dark for kids glad I stopped with just the first book. This is form older teens and young older adults. It’s dark with war, death, chemical, nukes and cannibalism so no bedtime story for children. Still a great read and great story more relevant today after covid makes it a bit more creepy. I liked it wish it would have closed all the ends in book 5 if there wasn’t going to be anymore in the series

Filler

I've been reading this series and was excited to start in on Spiral. Unfortunately, most of this book just feels like filler and not much happens until the last chapter or so, and that was disappointing. Will need to wait for the next and hopefully the last installment to get any resolution for this series.

Great ideas but some things don't make sense.

The story and general idea of the book and the series in general are what I would consider fantastic! The writing is also fairly good. All that being said, there are so many plot holes, why did the Styx care about Dominion if they could have just waited for the phase? Why did the Styx only have one sample of Dominion and the vaccine if it's so important? Why did they have to use Sarah Jerome to kill Will? That part seemed twisted but it didn't serve any purpose but to give Sarah something to do... The story is honestly wonderful, I love the fantastic things in the books it just seems like there are too many little issues that they didn't think through. Of course it's possible I was rash in judging the series as there is still one book to go, but I don't the issues I have mentioned will be addressed.
