Publisher's summary

Twelve-year old twins Mika and Ellie live in a future behind a wall - safe from the plague animals beyond. Or so they've been told. But when one of them disappears, and the other takes part in a sinister virtual reality game, they begin to discover their concrete world is built on lies. Determined to find each other again, they go in search of the truth. And as a strange sound in their heads grows to a roar, they find out that children and the planet have never mattered more…

Outstanding concept.

I first read this book when I was 10 and instantly fell in love with it. Ever since then I’ve read this book and its sequel every year.

I’m grown and I enjoyed this!

It starts off slow, but it really does pick up. Very clean, with good morals and a good story.

Teenager & Adult book!

I loved this book! I loved the writers creative style! I got this for an 8th grader who loved the story, and I ended up enjoying it too as an adult!
There were a few chapters that I listened to at night and actually couldn’t click stop because I wanted to know how it would unfold! I’m excited to read the second book!

Exciting and clean. How is that possible?

What do you know? A book can be written that is fun and exciting without filth, foul language and inappropriate content. My kids (early to mid teens) loved it. I did too actually! Can't wait for the sequel.

Perfect For The Whole family!

A great listen for the whole family! Would be great to listen to together on a road trip! I will be listening to it again with my kids when they are older! Kind of slow in the beginning, but really picks up about half way!

Too quiet.

I listen to books while wearing headphones, and I could barely hear the narrator reading. It gets worse when there are parts where the characters are whispering. She become so quiet I can't hear what she's saying.

Then the way she does the voices gets really annoying because everybody sounds the same. She has only two voices the good guys, and the bad guys, and half of the good guys sound exactly like the bad guys.

The story itself is very basic, but it's probably aimed at a younger audience than me. I read a lot of reviews that said this was a unique take on science fiction. There is nothing unique about it.
