About this listen

As her beloved city of Richmond is transformed into a deadly Civil War battlefield, spirited Carrie Cromwell puts her medical skills to work in a Confederate hospital. While she fights to save unknown soldiers, the one she cares about the most is lost to her when Robert disappears in battle. She must also deal with a family secret that has finally come to light.

Meanwhile, Rose and Moses have found freedom at last - only to be separated by war. Can Moses, now a Union spy, elude those who are searching for him as a runaway slave, and also help those he thought he would never see again?

Rose, inspired by a revolutionary young speaker, becomes a teacher in the contraband camps.

The third book of The Bregdan Chronicles historical fiction series will pull you in and never let you go. You'll experience the Civil War era (and all the years to come) through the eyes of both White and Black, free and slave, Southern and Northern - and you'll fall in love with every character.

Amazing

I simply love these books and the narrator is amazing. I highly recommend these books. They simply don’t write books like this enough. At this point there are 21 books and I can’t wait to read them all.

Great series.Historically accurate

other than a bit of improper English mixed with some very proper English (ending sentences with prepositions such as "for" ( "Carrie longed for rather than "for that which Carrie longed") it was well written

Fascinating story and history of the time.

Easy and fascinating story line of our country's history. Can't wait to read the next book.

And the saga continues (thankfully )!

I am loving this series! The eye opening love of Christ is a continuos reminder that He is indeed in control.

No songbird

The singing! I’m sorry but I just didn’t think it belonged as well as it sounded like an old grandma even when it was a man or child. The rest of the story was good. I may have to just read the next ones….

Excellent history

This book is written at level that younger readers can enjoy. It is excellent history come to life. I took away one star for the “I fell in love with her the moment I saw her, she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen” rubbish! This is not a good message for girls.

Good but...

I enjoyed the story and the narrator is generally good. But enough with the singing. I fast forwarded over most of it. Wasn't a problem in the first two books but this time, she has found her voice. Unfortunately
