About this listen

In the eleventh book in the New York Times bestselling Spy School series, Ben Ripley goes on a rescue mission when one of his own is abducted from a remote Alaskan training facility.

Ben Ripley and his friends are training in Alaska when Cyrus Hale is kidnapped by his old Russian nemesis. Ben, Erica, and the others mount a rescue mission, but events quickly spiral out of control in a plot involving the secret history of US-Russian relations, a young KGB agent with skills to rival Erica’s—and lots and lots of bears.

Leaving my second review

Again I thought the book was ok and I’m not against LGBTQ but the whole Zoe thing was just completely unnecessary and for some family’s they don’t want their kids exposed to this kinda stuff so yeah it was just an extra little thing that made the book not as good

It had flaws but I loved it

I did not ship Zoe and Spedlana.

I pre ordered this a year ago. It was Good but I really did not ship Zoe and Spedlana.

But over all it was amazing I liked the character Spedlana and the plot I will 100% listen to this book again

Okay Book

Overall I think it is an okay book. I did not expect Zoe coming out, but I did not think it was a bad thing because it was not the main story. I agree it was not Stuart Gibbs best book. I liked some of his earlier books like Spy Ski School more, but it was still a good book. I am excited to read the next book!

Zoe

We have to acknowledge that LGBTQ is a thing. But nevertheless it was kinda weird that Zoe has a crush on Spedlana .

Very good but few odd parts

I like this book but the Zoe and Svetlana was a little odd. It just doesn’t fit in with the style of the series. But overall it was really good and interesting. I loved Svetlana character and her personality.

Too political for kids?

I know it’s a cliche to criticize a book for being “woke” but there is a point where it needs to be mentioned. It’s fine if you have bits and pieces of your political views in your book. After all it’s your book. But it’s for kids, man. And it’s so blatantly obvious. Parents should be talking to their kids about where they stand on global warming, homosexuality, and the patriarchy, not a spy school book. If this was replaced with any other content (ie. religion) it would be heavily criticized. Because it’s a main stream book, not a book for a specific audience of that political leaning. The main plots points hammered in were; Zoe falls in love with a Russian girl, old men are stupid and callous, and global warming will very soon end the world if we don’t save the day with friendship. This book is a bridge for starting a new installment of spy school I’m hoping that the series will be more of the classic adventures that readers fell in love with. Not shoving politics down kid’s throats. I’m graduating high school soon and occasionally revisit the series because I adored it as a kid. But the quality of the content in these books is taking a steep nosedive. Be warned if you don’t want your kids consuming these ideas or don’t want to discuss these topics with children.
