About this listen

Teens and pre-teens flock to any new offering from New York Times best-selling author Gordon Korman. Told through multiple viewpoints, Ungifted follows Donovan Curtis through his year at a magnet school for gifted and talented kids. Thanks to an administrative foul-up, the decidedly mediocre student Donovan finds himself enrolled in the Academy of Scholastic Distinction. Out of place and out of luck, Donovan joins the robotics team. And while he learns a few lessons from his gifted classmates, he also teaches a few of his own.

. . . and I look forward to many more! "Ungifted" was, like the other two books, based on an interesting premise; and the author does not waste that premise. Impressive plot, clear and interesting characters, in keeping with the other two stories I've read from him ("Restart" and "Unplugged").

In "Ungifted," I liked the way the characters were learning new lessons and broadening themselves along the way, not just one huge Lesson or Charcter Changes delivered at the end of the book. For example, a girl likes a new boy at her school. She likes him from the start, a feeling that deepens the more they interact. Contrast that with, say, a relationship where one character realizes with shock (near the end of the story) that they actually like another character. It's not wrong for a writer to concoct a relationship in this denial-revelation format, but it sure was nice to see the way Korman did it here.

One of my favorite discoveries on Audible has been the books of Gordon Korman. Add this one to that happy list.

It’s one of those books that seem kind of weird but I actually got really rapped up.

A fun, lighthearted story about the kid we all knew in school. The impulsive, fun, class clown that we all needed. A closer look makes you wonder how real education got lost in the public school system and why learning can't be made fun for everyone, regardless of their GPA. definitely worth a listen.

Fast pace, keep your attention book

I think that Ungifted is a really great book. It shows a boy that once has no interest in robotics, to be part of a team that involves robots a lot! I love that the audiobook version had the different voices, so that you knew who was talking, instead of getting confused with who is speaking and who is not. I am recommending this to anyone that would enjoy a nice book that involves teamwork, and a book that involves a very good moral. This book was amazing, and I hope that people like me enjoy this book just like I did, and I hope that people read this and have hopes for another person to like the same thing.

Ungifted: One of the best books I have ever read in my life
