About this listen
Let one of the greatest theologians in the history of Christianity be your spiritual guide.
St. Thomas Aquinas OP (1224-1274) towers in the history of Christian thought as a mystic, spiritual master, theologian, philosopher, teacher, and preacher. Along with St. Augustine, his synthesis of Christian teaching and exposition of the truth of the Catholic faith remains unsurpassed in Western Christianity.
Now, to make his core teachings accessible, we are delighted to bring you a remarkable professor, Fr. Donald Goergen, OP. Through 12 powerful audio conferences, you will explore the key themes of his thought, especially in his Summa Theologica. You will derive spiritual direction from his balanced way of thinking.
You will explore such insights of Aquinas's thought as creation, the search for human happiness, the life of moral and intellectual virtues, the life of charity, Christ and the sacraments of the Church, and the life of the blessed in heaven.
Aquinas was an intellectually curious thinker unafraid to change his mind, a man of bold and innovative insights deeply committed to the Catholic tradition. His theology flows as much from his life of prayer as it does from intellectual acumen. Whatever your level of familiarity with Aquinas's thought, you will find great insights under the guidance of Fr. Goergen.
You will treasure this remarkable course.

Story
The Summa Theologica, by Thomas Aquinas, is a fundamental text in Catholic doctrine, a compendium of theology that has been studied and debated since its first publication in the 13th century. Furthermore, it has been widely regarded as one of the classics of Western philosophy, not least because, perhaps for the first time in such a systematic manner, it set out to consider the views of non-Christian figures such as Aristotle, Boethius, Muslim writers including Averroes (Ibn Rushd) and Avicenna (Ibn Sina) and the Sephardic Jewish scholar Maimonides.

Story
What brings us real and lasting happiness? Although just about every marketing firm, self-help guru, and man on the street has an answer, very few, if any, understand true happiness. It doesn’t come from power, pleasure, popularity, or possessions. So, what is happiness and how do we find it? In How to Be Happy, author Matt Fradd relies on the help of St. Thomas Aquinas to show what will - and what won’t - bring us happiness in this life. By making the thought of Aquinas utterly accessible for today, How to Be Happy is an invaluable guide to a good life.

Story
The saints, the heroes of the Roman Catholic faith, lived lives of holiness, dedicated to serving God. The saints lived at different times in different places throughout history, but they all shared a love of God that has been documented through the teachings of the Church. Today, the saints serve as examples for all Catholics, showing the believers how to lead a more spiritual life. Catholic devotions are particular customs, rituals and practices of worship or in honour of the saints that are in addition to the liturgy of the Catholic Church.

Story
St. Louis de Montfort’s classic Total Consecration to Mary has seen a strong resurgence in recent years, with Catholics around the world consecrating themselves to Our Lady. Building off this momentum, we wanted to encourage this closeness to Jesus through Mary, but with a preparation that reflected the Church’s love for St. Thomas Aquinas. In Aquinas’s writings, we found ample resources for the task. Especially in his preaching, we discovered passages detailing the graces bestowed on Mary and the role afforded her in leading us to Christ.

This method was approved by Pope Pius XI as a way for all to grow in holiness through unfailing confidence and childlike delight in God's merciful love. Again and again in this audiobook, St. Therese shows us how her "Little Way" of love and trust comes straight from Sacred Scripture.

In his latest book, Dr. Peter Kwasniewski argues that ever since the new liturgical books following the Second Vatican Council came into force, Roman Catholic faithful have suffered the effects of a hasty and far-reaching reform permeated with nominalism, voluntarism, Protestantism, rationalism, antiquarianism, hyperpapalism, and other modern errors. Man is not master over divine liturgy, Dr. Kwasniewski emphasizes; rather, all of us are called to be stewards of the sacred, from the lowest-ranking layman to the pope himself.

Story
Just before Christmas in 1843, a debt-ridden and dispirited Charles Dickens wrote a small book he hoped would keep his creditors at bay. His publisher turned it down, so Dickens used what little money he had to put out A Christmas Carol himself. He worried it might be the end of his career as a novelist. The book immediately caused a sensation. And it breathed new life into a holiday that had fallen into disfavor, undermined by lingering Puritanism and the cold modernity of the Industrial Revolution.

Very enjoyable.
I found the audio very pleasant and inspiring. I came to this after deeper investigation into Aquinas’ thought and theological perspective, therefore it served as more of a review. There were some new ways of looking at things which the author explained very well. I listed primarily while on my daily walks, therefore I lighter approach during these activities was very appropriate. I listed through the entire presentation twice. It was well with my time.

Talk about what Aquinas though
It would be nice if this was a book about St Aquinas thought but it isn’t. It is random points and the authors thoughts. At one point, the authors goes has these four beliefs, but I will not go into that. That is what the book is suppose to be about
