Publisher's summary

Moving back to Lockhat Bend wasn’t easy for Marianne Stanton. But the smart and sassy firecracker has come with a plan. She’s going to turn her Aunt’s old Honky Tonk into a sleek and successful brewery in the heart of Lockhart Bend. Proving that while her life didn’t go as planned, she could still take the town that judged her harshly as a child by storm. She’s set out to win the upcoming Battle of the Brews at the county festival. The plan is to do it solo...no matter what the annoyingly hot town sheriff has to say.

Sheriff Trent Wild has a dream - a dream that his favorite honky tonk will never change. For years, he can kick back with a cold one and listen to country crooning on the jukebox as couples two-step their way around the floor. It’s a dream that’s in peril since master brewer Marianne came back to town, all grown up - and looking damn good - to burst his bubble. Now, Trent needs to persuade Marianne that the Honky Tonk is perfect as it is...and that he could be perfect for her, too.

What starts off as a welcome back to town quickly becomes a battle of wills. Marianne and Trent will find themselves fighting for their separate dreams, until a cherry chapstick-flavored kiss proves juicier than expected. Now, they’ll have to decide if living the dream is worth missing out on the love of a lifetime.

One of the best...

I've read a lot of Leslie North's book, I like how she writes, and this book is one of my favorites. There's something in the dynamic between Trent and Marianne that makes it such fun to read and makes the romance all the sweater.

Beautifully written this story has two fantastic lead characters who create sparks that lead to some very hot scenes. A great end to this series.

The character voices are well done and the delivery is clear and smooth.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Trent & Marianne - It's all about trust

This is the third book in this series, but it is only the second one I have listened to, I started with book two which I enjoyed so much I just had to listen to this one.

Trent has two brothers, one is a football star and the other is his twin. His twin runs Wild Horse Ranch but Trent opted to become the town sheriff. One of his greatest pleasures when he is not working is socialising in the Honky Tonk Bar. But when the owner sells the Honky Tonk to her niece he begins to worry. Will things change? He hopes not too much.

Marianne is a Brewer and she has bought the bar from her aunt after a very upsetting divorce. She is driven by a need to succeed. A need to rely on no one and a mistrust in her own judgement in men, and doubt in her own abilities which have been caused by her ex.

When these two meet, there is an instant attraction, one Trent wants to take further but one Marianne doesn't trust. As she works on brewing her beer and revamping the bar Trent tries to help her but will she let him?

This was very much a feel good story with really nice characters, not just the main ones, and some scorching hot sex. The relationship which develops between Trent and Marianne is a two steps forward one step back type of thing. Will she ever learn to trust again?

I have to say that I really enjoyed this story and thought that the narration by Rebecca Roberts was very well done. I now really want to listen to book one.

I was given this book as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Good Finish for a Fun Steamy Romance Series

I am fairly exclusively an avid audiobook reader, listening to hundreds of books a year, so I am critical of narrators since I have seen a bad narrator ruin great books. I prefer books with multiple narrators so there is less chance of character voice confusion and voices that are 'easy on the ears'. The narrator in this book did a great job and it was an easy listen.

Next is the story. I am not one to give a lot of specific story details since I feel you should read the story for that. This is book three in a sexy cowboy romance series. Need I say more? The characters were interesting and the story kept me listening. I actually went very quickly through the entire series, so can definitely state that it is worth the listen.

Feel Good Listen

I so enjoy books by Leslie North, and found this one to leave me feeling happy. I found the concept of a brew-master purchasing her aunt's bar (honky-tonk) to be original. The sheriff and main character have an immediate attraction. I liked how he wasn't in favor of change, yet supported her. I had requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I keep thinking about Cherry Jubilee after listening to this book. This book is a standalone listen.

Stirring up the Sheriff

This was my first book in this series and these can definitely be read as standalone or in the series. Marianne is looking for a fresh start and moves back to the place she remembers from her childhood and her aunts old home. Trent is supposed to be making her feel welcome & look out for her. Theirs is a sweet story and proof that a small town can come together! But be on the lookout for those jackrabbits! Nice job on the narration.

Sweet easy listen

Where does Stirring Up the Sheriff rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's on the low-middle of pack range mainly because there wasn't enough back story. It was a quick listen and I knew it was short going into it but I hoped for more lead up.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the sister of the main leading man character the best. She had spunk.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes.

Any additional comments?
