About this listen

Sexy. Intriguing. Easy. Eli Boudreaux's family has built ships and boats in Louisiana for generations. He comes from a hardworking, wealthy family, and his empire is growing by leaps and bounds. At 30 he is the youngest CEO ever to head Bayou Enterprises, cochairing with his eldest brother. His head for business and his no-nonsense work ethic are also quickly making him the best the company has seen in generations. His staff admires him, women adore him, and Eli's family is solid. But he's recently discovered that someone on the inside of his business is stealing from him, and he's determined to find out who.

Kate O'Shaughnessy is hired by companies all over the world to slip inside and investigate every member of the organization, from the CEO down to the custodial staff, to find the person or persons responsible for embezzling. She's excellent at blending, becoming part of the team, and finding the weakest link. She's smart, she's quick witted, and she's now been hired by Bayou Enterprises, specifically Eli Boudreaux.

The attraction is immediate, and the chemistry is off the charts, but Kate has heard all about Eli's playboy past, and she has a job to do. Sleeping with the boss isn't a part of that job, even if just the sound of her name rolling off that Cajun tongue and the way he fills out a designer suit does make her sweat. Eli's Southern charms surprise Kate. The man whose reputation labels him as a ruthless, callous womanizer is not the man she's coming to know intimately. He's generous and protective, and he makes her smile.

Cracking through Kate's cool, reserved demeanor and discovering her love of sexy, expensive lingerie is a challenge Eli can't resist, but her sweet nature, love of family, and sense of humor pull at him in ways no one else ever has. But when the person responsible for trying to singlehandedly dismantle Eli's empire comes to light, and it's time for Kate to move on, to what lengths will Eli go to keep the woman he's fallen in love with by his side?

Needed more development

I don't normally write reviews, but this book was a tad frustrating. Though I did enjoy the characters, I wish the actual story had been better developed. There could have been more intrigue involved in her investigative job. It was almost as though she stumbled upon the culprit she was hired to find.... and the culprit ended up being someone Eli, or anyone if his siblings could and should have been able to discover on their own, without Kate's help. Having experience in investigating embezzlement within a company myself, that part of the story just wasn't plausible. I felt that it made the characters seem unintelligent, and uneducated leaving the story lacking for me.

Also, (and I say this as a huge Sebastian York fan... beyond huge... like 'read the phone book to me pretty please Mr. York' huge) but the fact that Rachel gave Eli a cajun/creole accent that didn't carry through into Sebastian's reading was confusing. (But I still love that voice!)

The family is great and the bones were there, but the story around the love story fell flat and I feel that hurt the character development. Another factor may have been that the author was trying to set up the sequel books in this series and all that detail also made the story confusing.

There were tender moment between Kate and Eli and I liked them as a couple, but I wish there had been more story to accompany the love story.

Just an so-so book

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not sure. it was really just an okay book, so I don't know if I would be discussing it with anyone.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Sylvia Day's last Crossfire novel

What didn’t you like about Sebastian York and Rachel Fulginiti ’s performance?

I love Sebastian York, but did not like the female narrator at all.

Was Easy Love worth the listening time?

Just barely

Any additional comments?

I was looking for another series. not sure I will bother with book 2.

Easy Love Isn't So Easy

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

No. The story, characters & setting are good. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, but was incredibly disappointed in the audiobook.

What other book might you compare Easy Love to and why?

Easy Love is comparable to Kristen Proby's other book Come Away With Me. Both male & female main characters are not only incredibly good-looking, but they're also intelligent, witty, talented & successful. There's great chemistry between the two lead characters, as well as among the related cast of characters. The plot introduces a variety of friends & family that will make great characters for additional books in a series. New Orleans is one of my favorite cities, so setting Easy Love in the Big Easy was a bonus.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Sebastian York and Rachel Fulginiti ?

Rachel Fulginiti was wonderful narrator. She created different voices for the various characters that helped me visualize them.Luke Daniels might have been a better narrator choice than Sebastion York. It pains me to say this because Sebastian York is one of my favorite narrators. His total lack of a southern accent ruined the credibility of the story, & detracted from the narration.

Fun, light reading.

Nice summertime read. Nothing heavy here. Sets up the rest of the series nicely. Can't wait.

Perfect Southern Romance

What did you love best about Easy Love?

I love Southern gentlemen. I dated one for many years and he was such a sweet, loving, caring man. Just like Eli. Kate is a no nonsense, tell it like it is girl, much like me. These two remind me of Me and my southern beau. The sex was amazing!! I have re-read this several times and will continue to. . GREAT Love story.

What other book might you compare Easy Love to and why?

Eazy Charm, the other book in this series, is equally delightful!

What does Sebastian York and Rachel Fulginiti bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Sebastian York is one of my favorite orators. He has a great flair for situations and brings the point across amazingly. This is the first book I've listened to with Rachel in it and she was truly lovely. I loved her spunk and her humor. Her aversion to swearing is a hoot. Great little "Twang" to add to her personality.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Funny, Sweet, All consuming Southern Romance

Fun book butProblem with narration

I enjoyed this light and steamy story. However, the female narrator (story has a male and female narrator) when reading the male New Orleans voices had a big problem with the accent. Having spent much time myself in Louisiana and New Orleans, the accent was so bad that it almost made me not to continue listening. She makes the male main character sound very dim witted (character is a very intelligent CEO.)

Good story, 1 great narrator, but there are 2.

What did you love best about Easy Love?

Story was good. Positive thoughts, support, perseverance and a family that will be delightful to unravel in future books, I hope.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Narrator for the male lead is fantastic. Narrator for the female lead should stick to a single female character and apparently a single dialect. Her portrayal of other women and especially when she takes on a male character is really, really, really terrible. If I didn't like the story so much I would have stopped listening altogether, but I just get hoping her part would be brief.

Great Story With Two Fantastic Narrators

Where does Easy Love rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Easy Love is one of my top audiobooks EVER!!! The narration was fantastic. I felt like I was in New Orleans with them.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved Eli, but my favorite was Kate. She has endured more than any woman or human being should ever have to endure, but she refuses to give up. She is just a survivor; she's a fighter who continues fighting everyday to live a life filled with happiness..

What about Sebastian York and Rachel Fulginiti ’s performance did you like?

These two were not just narrators reading a book. They WERE the characters. They weren't Sebastian and Rachel....they were Eli and Kate!!!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes...very much so!

Any additional comments?

I loved the chemistry between the characters. Not only were they attracted to each other, but they genuinely like one another before ever falling in love. It had it all....love, sex, and mystery!!!

Narration is the problem

I love this book and have read it probably 5 times. I am so disappointed with the narration. The voice of Eli is a female and sounds nothing like a southern draw . Voice just doesn’t fit the book.
