Great story and great narrator!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book because there were no reviews. I was pleasantly surprised when the narrator made the book come alive and the story line was lively, interesting, romantic and magical. The time period the story takes place, Regency England, and the twist of a magical society are great backdrops. The villian is truly dreadful and makes for exciting reading. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Very Interesting Storyline

I was looking for an audio book for a trip and settled upon this novel after a friend recommended it. The concept that this author puts forth regards a secret magical society operating behind the scenes, down through the ages. The Magic Society's purpose is to protect the world from evil by use of their various magical skills, i.e., manipulation of the nature, animals, or human minds, etc. In this novel, the society has to protect the world from one of their own gone bad. This apparently is a theme the author uses in several of her other novels. Great escape for several hours and the narration was quite good.

Slow start to Gripping Story!

I got muddled a bit in the beginning keeping everyone straight. Especially as I listen in episodes in the car. But it evolved into a story I wanted to listen to all night! I could listen to the velvety smooth voice of Simon Prebble forever. He is actually why I chose this story. And I'm so glad I did!

Guardian Series- 3rd Story

Any additional comments?

The Guardian Series is written by Mary Jo Putney under the name "M. J. Putney". Stolen Magic is actually the 3rd story in the series. It should follow: 1. "The Alchemical Marriage" in Irresistible Forces (2004); and 2. A Kiss of Fate (2004).

romance, magic and protection

This review is for the audiobook borrowed through my Audible Escape plan.
Set in the world of 1746-1749 Great Britain, the Guardians are magically talented families who protect and serve in secret. For years, Simon Malmain, Lord Falconer, has been the most dangerous mage in Britain, charged with hunting the mages who cause injury and threaten to expose the Guardians. Generations of his family have served in this position, making them less than desirable mates to the women of the Guardians.
Simon misjudges Lord Drayton when he attempts to apprehend him and is trapped into the shape of a unicorn. When the simpleton Meg frees him, Simon then frees her from psychic and magical slavery to Drayton. They unite in their efforts to expose and punish Drayton, to free others enslaved to him, and to foil his plots.
Prebble does an excellent job of narration.

Totally amazing!

The first book in this series was a fascinating set of twists and turns. A truly eloquently written tale. I adored the story and highly recommend this book. You'll be glad you did.
