About this listen

When Miss Beatrix Waterbury's Chicago-bound train ride is interrupted by a heist, Mr. Norman Nesbit, a man of science who believes his research was the target of the heist, comes to her aid. Despite the fact that they immediately butt heads, they join forces to make a quick escape.

Upon her arrival in Chicago, Beatrix is surprised to discover her supposedly querulous Aunt Gladys shares her own suffragette passions. Encouraged by Gladys to leave her sheltered world, Beatrix begins working as a salesclerk at the Marshall Field and Company department store. When she again encounters Norman on a shopping expedition, he is quickly swept up in the havoc she always seems to attract.

But when another attempt is made to part Norman from his research papers, and it becomes clear Beatrix's safety is also at risk, they soon discover the curious way feelings can grow between two very different people in the midst of chaos.

Delightful and quirky.

The final book in this trilogy brings the story of these three quirky and unique NY 400 friends full circle. Jen Turano did it again! She found a way to infuse humor into a story about love, girl-power and a time long past. I appreciate how she sheds light into the realities of life for women back then, giving me a renewed sense of appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy as women today. I also appreciate that she does not neglect to remind the readers of God’s love for us and how He can use interesting situations in our lives for a greater story and purpose we would’ve never imagined. This was a delightful story, and Andrea Emmes did a beautiful job narrating it. I could really picture all the characters in my mind. I look forward to what both these ladies have in store for us next.

refreshingly funny, interesting and Godly story

I highly recommend this book, no bad language, or sexual scenes, however the narration was hard to follow at times..same voice for many characters

A good, clean and entertaining story.

I have enjoyed all of Jen Turano's books. She does a good job weaving a little mystery with some humor to create a nice story.
The only complaint that I have is with three over-used phrases:

1. "What with" - If I had to count the times the characters said these two words together I would guess it would be in the thousands!
2. "That right there" - It just sounds odd to me. I could understand it if one odd character used this phrase, but it was not limited to just one, many of them used it. :(
3. "Too right you are" - I understand that people did use this phrase, but did they really use it that often?

Also, some of the other phrases and wording are much more current, so they don't ring true in the story.

But overall, I still enjoyed it. The narrator did a good job with most of the voices, though I was confused at times with some of the "Southern" accents, at least I was able to keep track (most of the time) of the characters.

A wonderful thought provoking book, Saint Maries Idaho

I loved how Norman was able to.look at himself and change some of the behavior patterns that were getting in his way. This story made me look at myself for the things I need to change.
Yet the author was able to weave humor through these lessons that made this story most delightful!

Love and suspense

Loved the book. Favorite moment was with the first kiss of Norman and Beat six. Then hearing then fight but finally, after much drama, getting married

Delightful story

Another great story by Jen Turano. Beatrix gets a job to learn about what it’s like for working women and grows into her potential in this delightful read.

The audio narration was well done as well.

Funny and Exciting

I love the humor of every book in this series. Miss Jen takes the imperfections of the heroines of each book and makes them the defining characteristics that we all adore. Making those of us who have the aptitude for certain blunders in life to laugh with familiarity. Thank you Miss Jen for writing from your heart. Your books are refreshing, and I look forward to each one! :)

A fun read…& the inclusion of suffrage issues was fun to imagine.

Silly but engaging with a bit of spirituality worn in! Fun story and easy to listen to as I did things around the house. Thank you!
