About this listen

Two years before the events of Stranger Things: Season 4, Eddie Munson—Hellfire Club leader, metalhead, and Hawkins outcast—has one shot to make it big.

Hawkins, Indiana: For most, it’s simply another idyllic, manicured all-American town. But for Eddie Munson, it’s like living in a perpetual Tomb of Horrors. Luckily, he has only a few more months to survive at Hawkins High. And what is senior year, really, but killing time between Dungeons & Dragons sessions with the Hellfire Club and gigs with his band, Corroded Coffin?

At the worst dive bar in town, Eddie meets Paige, someone who has pulled off a freaking miracle. She escaped Hawkins and built a wickedly cool life for herself working for a record producer in Los Angeles. Not only is she the definition of a badass—with killer taste in music—but she might also be the only person who actually appreciates Eddie as the bard he is instead of as the devil incarnate. But the best thing? She’s offering him a chance to make something of himself, and all he needs to do is get her a demo tape of Corroded Coffin’s best songs.

Just one problem: Recording costs money. Money Eddie doesn’t have. But he’s willing to do whatever it takes, even if that means relying on his dad. Al Munson has just stumbled back into Eddie’s life with another dubious scheme up his sleeve, and yet Eddie knows this is his only option to make enough dough in enough time. It’s a risk, but if it pays off he will finally have a one-way ticket out of Hawkins.

Eddie can feel it: 1984 is going to be his year.

In stranger this we didn't get to see much of eddie and the abrupt ending to his story in the end so being able to see his life before this was outstanding like why he was held back all these years and why he was so called a "screw up". the only this I disliked was all the F bombs, in the show there is none of this word in usage. But other than that I loved this book so much, and I love the was this voice actor played these character, I was bummed that Joseph quince wasn't the actor but after listening to the first chapters I saw why. thank you so much!

I LOVE THIS BOOK WITH EVERYTHING IN ME

In order to get a taste of Stranger Things while waiting for the last season to premier, I have slowly been reading through the tie-in novels. Most are pretty good, not terribly memorable, but they are decent, short reads. Flight of Icarus may the best one yet. I still need to read Dustin's book though.

It was great to spend a little more time with Eddie Munson. What I really appreciated about this story is that the author was really able to capture Eddie's voice and personality in this book. You get to see a lot of Eddie's life, not just Hellfire Club, but also his band. his family, the place where he works, and his antagonistic relationship with Hawkins' school principal. The author capture's Eddie's charm and his heart, but she also captures those moments where he is feeling insecure and ready to give into the Munson name and all of the weight behind that name.

A number of Strager Things characters show up in this book. We see Jonathan and Will Byers, Hopper, and some of the basketball bullies. For Chrissy and Eddie shippers, there are a couple of sweet scenes between those two characters. Thank you to the author for far exceeding my expectations!

This is the best of the Stranger Things novels

Great page turner. I loved learning more about Eddie! I thought I couldn’t love him more but I was wrong.

Such a great addiction to the Stranger Things franchise!

Makes me feel sad even more so for what happens to Eddie although I love the fact that I got to fill in the gaps and love him as a character that much more simply because I relate to him more than I thought I would I’m grateful for it however. The only thing that seems to frustrate me is what seems to be a constant occurrence in the world right now is I don’t know if I can fit into this review but women being higher than men in some way shape or form what I mean by that is, they’re allowed to do one thing and their praise for it empowered yet if a man were to do the same thing, he would be frowned upon or even cast out and Booed I just wish that we could watch listen and view things where there’s actual equality not one sex attempting to point out the floss and tear down the other. The reason I write this is because we often go to things like this for a escape of the real world and its problems and issues it saddens me more than I can admit that it seems like it’s becoming nearly impossible to get away from that in any sort of entertainment outlet. Maybe people won’t realize what I mean by this, but I feel like if you listen, you’ll know exactly what I mean either way, thank you to the author for writing this book. to everyone else to make things like this possible sincerely a avid Audible fan

Makes me love Eddie even more/relatable, but ultimately slightly frustrated.

We have more to add to the lore for Stranger Things, this time, about Eddie and his backstory. Story is rather good as far as Stranger Things go. Narration is also good, though said narrator gives a lot of the characters what sound to me like Southern accents. That flaw aside, a worthy addition to the expanded Stranger Things universe.

More to the Stranger Things-verse

I’m a big Stranger Things & Eddie fan. It was good to hear Eddie’s backstory, even if it was a bit dramatic. Be prepared for a sad story.

Dramatic but good

I really love this book. I was a little sad that it wasn't longer. I really would have loved to read more about Eddie's past. Regardless, definitely recommend this book 10/10!! Great Narration as well. I wish Netflix makes this book come to life on TV as a short side series.

Great Read!

The performance was great and I really enjoyed Leo’s voices and the personality he gave characters. As a Stranger Things fan, the story flowed well and I liked the nods to the show. What was weird (too me) was some of the little wording choices by Eddie, who is good at his core but also shows hard edge. When he gets embarrassed in one part of the story, the way he gets all “shy” and says “Daaaad” was almost laughable. Nothing major but did make me step out of the story for a brief second. Again, nothing deal breaking but just a little weird. Overall, I liked the story and I’ll be looking at the other Stranger Things audiobooks to listen to.

Good story, great performance, interesting choices for Eddie
