About this listen

Dr. Lila Emerson is finally free of the shadow of her politically connected family, with her new job in a small-town emergency room. But her new peace is shattered when she encounters the dangerous but compelling Striker. He's everything she should stay away from but all she craves. And since he keeps turning up in her ER, he's hard to avoid.

As vice resident of No Prisoners outlaw motorcycle club, Striker is no stranger to violence. But when it touches the pretty doctor he wants in his bed, he'll do anything to keep her safe. When Striker and Lila are thrust together, sparks fly, and passions ignite. Before long they find themselves entangled in a relationship neither saw coming.

The MC can and will eliminate any threat against Lila, but what if they - and the man she's falling for - are the reason she's in danger?

This book is recommended for 18+ due to graphic sexual content and explicit language.

Just ‘good’

This book should have been really good, but the horrible cliches and formulaic writing became pretty monotonous.
I liked Striker, he was fine, though there were heaps of character contradictions, such as him deciding he wouldn’t change or leave the club for the girl, him being violent, and a murderer etc. and then the heroine describes him as a truely good man where family values are his priority. Actually he was selfish, he put her at risk because he wanted something from her, he prioritised his own wants over hers all the time. This story line sort of led to the heroine being pretty bland, somehow she just became a bit of a dumb and nieve foil to showcase the hero.
She says that he respects her work, but actually he just puts her years of hard work and ambition at risk, because what he wants somehow counts more. There wasn’t even that much chemistry.

SO SO CLOSE TO BEING A PERFECT MC LISTEN

Lila has moved to Arizona to get away from her manipulative and overbearing Father and is now happy with her job as an ER Doctor - especially whenever one particular hot member of the No Prisoners MC comes in. There's always somebody from the MC who needs medical help and they're usually accompanied by Striker - the Alpha, handsome, sexy and charismatic VP. And although Lila feels the hot chemistry and attraction that sizzles between them she wants the white picket fence lifestyle and sadly Striker doesn't look like he's after more than a short-term good time. So Lila resists temptation... until her life is threatened and she's forced to seek refuge at the No Prisoners Clubhouse where Striker immediately takes her under his very protective wing.

Striker loves the MC lifestyle along with the tight friendships he's made over the years - however a certain ER Doctor is taking up way too much of his thoughts these days because he just can't get the beautiful, clever, sassy, quick witted and intriguing Lila out of his mind. So, when a very frightened Lila comes running into his Clubhouse one day, Striker takes the opportunity of whisking her home to 'personally protecting' her and, the more he learns about the good Doctor, the more fascinated, attracted, proud and possessive he becomes. Striker knows he's no good for Lila so battles with himself over bringing her into his dangerous world - but when Lila gets caught up in the middle of a suspicious drug related conflict with the Grimm Brothers MC, the threats to her become more personal, more vicious and more deadly. And spending precious time together brings Striker and Lila closer and closer together.

This was a well developed introduction into a new MC world and the mixed bag of secondary characters who make up the No Prisoners MC. There's suspense, swoon-worthy scenes and humorous banter.... however, it was also the story of how two people, from the opposite sides of the track, meet and fall deeply in love - despite the suspense of death threats, jealousies, MC angst/drama, kidnappings, a twist or two and a deeply disturbed psychotic stalker. There were steamy scenes and dirty talk between a loveable Hero and Heroine who were sensible, older and deeply committed to each other. IMO, this dual POV story was addictive, enjoyable, entertaining, hot, very well narrated and is a great introduction to Lilly Atlas' new Biker series.

Worth a credit? Yes and it's a well paced love story where the Hero and Heroine initially fight their attraction and their feelings for each other - then fight to save it. And when they do give in to their desires - they are 100% loyal, fiercely protective and very loving towards each other.

Not my favorite MC Romance, but has potential

I really, really wanted to like this book after reading rave reviews from other readers/listeners. I found the beginning of the book to be kind of juvenile; I think when a man and woman are attracted it doesn't really play out like high school. Otherwise it is a good story with some fun characters. Lilia and Striker are hot together; deal with an overbearing family of Lila's and her stalker. I look forward to reading the second installment just to see if the story lines become more adult. I used a credit for this story and did not return it but recommend a sale.

Enjoyable MC Romance

This story is a typical mc romance. It is narrated entirely by a male narrator. He was okay except I found his male lead voice to be too gravelly. The story wasn't bad but it wasn't great either hence 3 stars for narration and story. I decided to give 4 stars overall because I enjoy romances more when the female character is self-confident, not a doormat, and not whiny like this woman; she manages to be sweet yet still a little fiesty and strong; the male lead is the typical rough-around-the-edges, dirty talking, sex-on-a-stick, alpha male biker but he is also caring and not a cheater. There is some violence but it's not graphic and there's a HEA:-)

Good story

I like the story. It’s got really good strong characters. I really like the author of this book and have read another series of hers. I don’t like that a man is doing the voice of the female characters. His voice doesn’t have the range for it.

A Decent Enjoyable MC Story…

…. For fans of the MC world.

This was an easy MC story to listen too. It wasn't too intense or too mild but somewhere in the middle. (There's language, violence and sex). The plot was easy to follow, and there was some danger weaved throughout the plot and a few intense scenes. The chemistry and steamy sex scenes helped take this from a three stars to a four star listen.

Some spoilers:
The characters were great. While Striker was gruff, and took his position in the MC seriously, he had smoldering caring side especially for Lila. Lila's a doctor who earned the nickname "stitch" for all the times she helped mend some of the MC members wounds. I liked her, she had a funny side, but was also smart and sassy. When Lila suspects she is being followed and receives some suspicious texts, Striker and the MC step in to protect her. Striker and Lila are attracted to each other, and all the hidden glances, and teasing quickly turn into some smoldering sex scenes. However, Lila's "stalker" is not the only threat to them when a rival MC clubs accuses Striker's MC of stealing their product. After a few close calls, Striker begins to think Lila is too good for the MC lifestyle but it will take more than a few threats to push Lila away.

The narration was good. I've actually listened to Noah Michael Levine's before, and like his accent.

I bought this story based on the reviews and ratings and used my KU membership and added whispersync so I feel I got a good story at a great price. However, I don't know if I would necessarily suggest using a credit as I felt the story was missing something. While I felt it was missing something, it is still worth listening too, but I suggest trying to get it on a whispersync or sale price and use your credit as a last resort.

Loved this story.found by happy accident

This is the first book I've read/listened to by Ms Atlas. Although finding this was a happy accident, I can tell already itse going to be a new favorite series. I have several Audible books but I had to write my first review for the narrator Noah Michael Levine. Mr. Levine read all of the characters so well that I truly felt like I could visualise each person and what was happening. Some other male narrators I've come across read all female characters as whiney or almost crying. I will definitely be looking forward to finding other books narrated by Mr. Levine and am pleased to find that he is working on the second book in this series "Jester".
As for this book it has similarities to the "Insurgents MC" series by Chiah Wilder. I like Ms. Atlas's series better..here you know Striker has been a manwh#* in the past, but stops after getting interested in Lilia. You are really able to feel the love between the characters and the "family" vibe of the MC. The conflict between the 2 MC's as well as the crazy patient was written so as to not lag or run on too long. I also appreciate how this was able to have high tension without having to be too dark.
If you enjoyed "Hawk's Property" by Chiah Wilder, but found it to be a little "dark" for a romance novel, you will love this book!!

Great series so far

This is the second book I've listened to in this series and I have enjoyed both immensely. This book was entertaining from start to finish. The characters are interesting. The premise is intriguing. The romantic tension is apparent throughout the story and keeps you listening to see how it all plays out.
