About this listen

Tandy has never fit in with the others at the North Pole, whether it’s his size or love for computers. But he wants to contribute to the mission of making the world’s children happy. Every elf does. Taking time away from his baby - a new process for the Nice and Naughty lists - to do the yearly census on the Isle of Misfit Toys just doesn’t fit into his schedule.

It seemed like every time El turned around, there was another elf getting under his foot for a census. Did the elves think that toys just disappeared from the Isle? And those that arrived were accounted for before they arrived. All El wanted at this point in his life was to become a baker at the North Pole. He’d had the love of a child already, and Jack Frost did it hurt when he was no longer in his heart. Maybe if he avoided the elves this year, they’d just leave him to his cookies.

Can the magic of the holidays bring these two together? El and Tandy both need help healing, and isn’t Christmas the season of miracles?

Short and Sweet

A sweet little Christmas story. It was a unique take on misfit toys and an elf that doesn't quite fit in. I really enjoyed the scene with the snowglobe. Now I need to go check out the ebook for all of the recipes that were mentioned. Mark Reece Healey did a great job with the characters.

loved it

I loved this book. Mark Reece Healey's amazing voice brings this story to life and makes you love the characters even more. Tandy is a elf that has never fit in at the North Pole. He is bigger than most elves and he loves computers. He only wishes to help with making the children of the world happy. He has been working on a new process for Nice and Naughty lists. Tandy has to put it aside to do the yearly census at the Isle of misfit toys. El is tired of the yearly census. He doesn't want to be placed with another child after the last time. El wants nothing more than to bake for the North Pole. Will the magic of the holidays bring Tandy and El together and heal them?

Cute story

This was a really short and cute shifter story. I really like the island of misfits and the oversized elf. It was like 2 of my favorite Christmas stories joining a MM romance story. I loved that. We’ll write. And the performance was well done for it being lower quality recording.

Christmas Magic

Sugar Cookies and Computer Code
by Kris Jacen

A cute tale of a heartbroken teddy bear and a "giant" elf that meet on the Isle of Misfit Toys. They both need to learn from each other. I'm not sure how I feel about toys shifting into human form, but if that's your thing you'll enjoy.

The narration was well done, by Mark Reece Healey. The characters were well portrayed.

Cookies and Misfits

The author took and old Christmas story, a television cartoon from the 1960s watched by children gathered around an RCA television with Mom and Dad gleaming with seasonal joy and turned it into “Sugar Cookies & Computer Code”, a 21st century adaption of the aforementioned Christmas cartoon. Kris Jacen’s characters fit nicely into the world we now decorate. Tandy, an oversized elf, a misfit among misfits and computer nerd, Elmer or just L, a scarred and heartbroken teddy bare abandoned by his boy, Ethan, star in this remake. But what doesn’t fit nicely can best be explained by one word—tradition. There are many old ideas, or traditions, an author can spin a new cocoon around hoping what emerges will be beautiful. It has become common to retell old stories with new plots, twists and character traits, but there are some that would be better left alone. The characters in this “Christmas Romance” fat shame, threaten to beat another, spike one’s drink and desirously wishes to “lick him”. It is a shame, the story began well, the first minutes enjoyably nostalgic before crash landing in the woke world of the 21st century. The narrator, Mark Reece Healy, adds to the story with practiced voice characterization and good pacing. Although at times the audio quality dips below acceptable levels. Jacen’s eBook includes cookie recipes between chapters. This is a good. Afterall, who doesn’t enjoy a good cookie.
