Very sweet, not sugary.

Such a good book... the characters are all so colorful and real, as if they exist off the page in truth. The story has a streak of unbelievability but at the same time is perfectly plausible. There is such depth to each personality and back story that it all works beautifully. I knew these people, all of them.

And the narrators performance was sheer perfection!

Why make the subject political

If I wanted to read a political novel I would have read one but in this politically charged time I wonder why she had to declare her as a liberal I wonder why an author would deliberately have less people buy her book because a conservative would have a problem with it. Or if an author stated the person was a conservative and a liberal was reading it doesn’t make sense

Sweet & Stupid

While sweet & mildly entertaining, this book about Candace, a supposedly intelligent business owner, was disappointing. She was ready to marry mamma's boy Barry until she meets sexy Michael. If Candace was that stupid and insecure, she deserved to be miserable.

Ok for a straight story

I enjoy a good romance that falls into traditional roles as much as the next women but there were several moments that felt anti LGBTQ+. This made me feel like I was supporting the continuations of these micro aggressions.

I guess this is just a warning for those who might not want those undertones

What’s wrong with other readers??

I was unsure is I wanted to dedicate 5 hrs based on the reviews. Knowing that some readers are never happy with their read, I opted to read it. It’s a cute and clean book that I could use my speakerphone on and not run into the room to turn it off around my kids. Don’t get me wrong - there are sex scenes but primarily it’s readers imagination, which personally I enjoy. True it does have adultery but that’s obvious when you read bio - so why it offended someone - who knows. It’s cute and part of the Audible Plus when I downloaded, so it was free.

Unsettling Stereotypes

I was very upset to listen to this book and hear the obviously Jewish names of two of the main characters and have them portrayed as having ridiculous and negative stereotypes.

The book was completely predictable, but enjoyable enough. I will, however, never listen to another Shirley Jump book again. Perpetuating negative stereotypes to people who may not know better is very dangerous.
