Against all odds, May, Martin, and Kylie become a family. Gradually, May's compassion and Kylie's insight lead Martin to reveal the painful secrets of his past. Would you consider the audio edition of Summer Light to be better than the print version?
Not at all. I read the book years ago and loved the story. I got the audiobook to listen to during a cross country flight. It's the first audiobook I've purchased that I could not finish. What was one of the most memorable moments of Summer Light?
The "back story" of Martin growing up in Canada and how his father treated him gave a solid base to much of the rest of the story. What three words best describe Laural Merlington’s voice?
Soft, light, flatDid you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The book - yes. The audiobook - no.Any additional comments?
I have no issues with Laural Merlington's voice. It simply isn't suited for this book. One of the central characters is a burly professional hockey player and her voice simply isn't strong enough to carry it off. She did fine with the female characters.LOVE the story - not so much the performance.
