Publisher's summary
Real-life supernatural stories that'll scare the $#!* out of you!
People throughout the ages have claimed to have mysterious and blood-chilling encounters with unexplained forces, such as Mothman, demons, ghosts, and extraterrestrials.
Ann Gaiman has compiled an anthology of over 25 of the creepiest real-life short stories on the most shocking and mysterious supernatural events that have taken place - all based on eyewitness accounts telling their encounters with the supernatural.
Excerpt:
"One day, we were entertaining a neighbor and her daughter. “Why is this room so cold?” My neighbor asked, as she entered a guest bedroom that felt icy to the touch. “We aren’t sure. My daughter used to sleep there but had to move to a different room because of the darn temperature. Even in the middle of summer, that room doesn’t get any warmer” Upon saying this, I recalled old exorcism stories about rooms going inexplicably cold when inhabited by spirits. My neighbor then asked for a cross and rosary. She was familiar with the paranormal. “Leave this place at once! Leave and be gone,” she repeated while brandishing the crucifix. “It’s getting warming in here,” I said. And that’s when everything went to hell...."

Story
They live in shadows - deep in the forest, late in the night, in the dark recesses of our minds. They're spoken of in stories and superstitions, relics of an unenlightened age, old wives' tales, passed down through generations. Yet no matter how wary and jaded we have become, as individuals or as a society, a part of us remains vulnerable to them: werewolves and wendigos, poltergeists and vampires, angry elves and vengeful spirits.

Ringed with a decaying fence, hidden from sight, it presents a huge temptation to a group of bored, thrill-seeking youths who are about to learn that terror is, in fact, immortal.

Story
No one knows where the Tufa came from or how they ended up in the mountains of east Tennessee. When the first Europeans came to the Smoky Mountains, the Tufa were already there. Dark-haired and enigmatic, they live quietly in the hills and valleys of Cloud County, their origins lost to history. But there are clues in their music, hidden in the songs they have passed down for generations.

Story
Harrison Scott Key was born in Memphis, but he grew up in Mississippi, among pious, Bible-reading women and men who either shot things or got women pregnant. At the center of his world was his larger-than-life father - a hunter, a fighter, and a football coach. Harrison, with his love of books and excessive interest in hugging, couldn't have been less like Pop, and when it became clear that he was not able to kill anything very well or otherwise make his father happy, he resolved to become everything his father was not.

Story
The isolated town of Beldon, Wisconsin, is shocked when a high school freshman’s body is found in Lake Algonquin. Just like everyone in the community, 16-year-old Daniel Byers believes that Emily Jackson’s death was accidental. But at her funeral, when he has a terrifying vision of her, his world begins to rip apart at the seams. Convinced that Emily’s appearance was more than just a mere hallucination, Daniel begins to look carefully into her death, even as he increasingly loses the ability to distinguish fantasy from reality.

STOP. You should not have touched this flyer with your bare hands. NO, don't put it down. It's too late. They're watching you. My name is David Wong. My best friend is John. Those names are fake. You might want to change yours. You may not want to know about the things you'll read on these pages, about the sauce, about Korrok, about the invasion, and the future. But it's too late. You touched the book. You're in the game. You're under the eye. The only defense is knowledge. You need to read this book, to the end. Even the part with the bratwurst. Why?

Interesting Collection
This is an interesting collection of personal stories dealing with the supernatural. Not everyone believes in things like these stories happening, discounting them as just that...stories. Whatever your belief these are unnerving stories to hear. Some not that bad while others were quite unnerving to hear. I have the upmost respect for those who have dealt with this world and to give their stories so others can be aware and learn the proper respect that such incidents can occur. The narration was well done. No voices being done but Scott Dabbs reads at a nice pace and has the voice for narrating such content.

Well Written and Researched
Mrs. Gaiman's work in this volume of real-life horror tales is inspiring, to say the least. Some of these stories I did recall from the news and other periodicals. While the stories were not original they were presented in a fresh way to readers new and old. The strength of her writing style is only enhanced by the narrations of Scott Dabbs's voice work. This combination seems a perfect pairing.

Strong Collection of Monsters and Paranormal
As a fan of all the different supernatural monster shows on TV this book was a good companion. My only real compliant is that it wasn’t longer, and the misidentification of the starting quote to Einstein instead of Sherlock Holmes.
The stories are well told and while I had heard of the creatures I hadn’t actually heard any of the first-hand accounts. The New Jersey Devil and Goat Man stories were my favorite. Neither one of those cryptids gets very much respect and consequently there isn’t much out there on them. The witch stories were also enjoyable as I don’t hear much about them anymore.
Scott Dabbs did a great job with the narration. His narration and voice were perfect for the retelling of the accounts.

Supernatural Horror Stories
This is a collection of peoples first hand accounts of their interactions with what they perceive as the supernatural. You will hear many different stories about things that go bump in the night and listeners can make up their own minds as to what really happened with these people. These quick paced tales are a good way for those just starting to get interested in these kinds of things to begin their research. Whether or not you believe in the supernatural the people in these stories do and it is interesting to get their firsthand accounts as to what happened. Scott Dabbs keeps the narration flowing at a good pace and keeps you engaged in the stories.

An everyday man horror story collection
** I recieved this audiobook for free in exchange for my own honest review**
This short story collection wasnt bad. Some stories were new to me, which I really liked. I felt like a few stories got all the attention to detail and a few were short and forgotten.
Scott Dabs did an alright job for narrating this book. he had a good everyday man voice and got the job done. Early on I did notice he was running out of breath of some sentences, and his delivery was pretty rough. As the book went on he got into the flow easier and it came more naturally.
All in all, I felt like this book lacked some OOMPH in some key moments, whether it being the wording or narrating delivery, but it was a good short listen.
I would reccomend this audiobook

Sufficiently Creepy
This is an interesting anthology structured as explanations and then dramatized accounts of encounters with various elements from folklore and urban legends like aliens, moth man, and their ilk. It does a pretty seamless job of gluing between those roles giving the listener just enough information to make the encounter creepier and more riveting. The narrator as well helps carry that feeling as he brings these stories of horrific things to life.

Supernatural Stories That May Frighten You
*This book was given to me by the author at my request, and I provided this voluntary, unbiased review.*
3.5/5
This book was a quick read-through. I get what the author was trying to do, and that was successful. While I don't believe in ghosts, I absolutely love a supernatural story. This is another one of those stories I picked up that play on the "real accounts" thing. I have quickly become disconnected with these type of stories; however, this one was done well, and I could not give it lower marks solely on the basis of my dislike of the vehicle used to convey the story. I very much appreciate the author giving me a copy to read, and I will in the future be attentive to the story before picking it up.
To other potential readers: this is still worth a read if you are looking for a spooky supernatural read!

Some of the tales I've heard many times before, like Jackie Hernandez. I wish there were wayyy more stories, too. It's a good read, though.
