About this listen

Cheating is an ugly yet real part of the dating world. Once the initial shock of discovering your sweetheart is a cheat sinks in, you'll likely ask the big question - why?

Reasoning away the infidelity is a kind of coping mechanism that helps our bruised egos deal with the rejection we often experience in these circumstances. While there's always a few original excuses, most of them have withstood the test of time. Many people, including Hollywood starlets like Elizabeth Taylor and professional sports figures like Tiger Woods, have had to cough up answers for cheating. Sarah Crawford focuses on some of the reasons why men cheat in her book:

  • Things like: She doesn't understand me. Well, I think everyone understands you now!
  • You felt physically attracted to her but you were not mature enough to be emotionally attached.
  • My partner cheated first. This leads to an endless cycle of cheating and drama, until someone gets hurt, sick or gives up.
  • We've grown apart. Meaning, we haven't spent much time together recently so I decided to cheat. She's a sexual prude.
  • He's just so predictable. Interpreted, this means, "I have some sexual requests that are so strange that I'm afraid to ask my regular partner to perform them."
  • I like variety. This generic excuse is really a non-excuse.
  • "I like variety," is interchangeable with "I'm a dog."

This is something every partner should look out for and this book will help both men and women.
