About this listen

X-Men meets Heroes when New York Times best-selling author Scott Westerfeld teams up with award-winning authors Margo Lanagan and Deborah Biancotti in the second book of an explosive new trilogy about a group of teens with amazing abilities.

They thought they'd already faced their toughest fight. But there's no relaxing for the reunited Zeroes.

These six teens with unique abilities have taken on bank robbers, drug dealers, and mobsters. Now they're trying to lay low so they can get their new illegal nightclub off the ground.

But the quiet doesn't last long when two strangers come to town, bringing with them a whole different kind of crowd-based chaos. And hot on their tails is a crowd-power even more dangerous and sinister.

Up against these new enemies, every Zero is under threat. Mob is crippled by the killing-crowd buzz - is she really evil at her core? Flicker is forced to watch the worst things a crowd can do. Crash's conscience - and her heart - get a workout. Anon and Scam must both put family loyalties on the line for the sake of survival. And Bellwether's glorious-leader mojo deserts him.

Who's left to lead the Zeroes into battle against a new murderous army?

Read this one!

Great series. The intonation is important for these characters and the narrator did a great job. While not speaking in a monotone is important, the quietest character made it so I constantly had to change my volume to hear comfortably.

Esrael

Almost as good as the first ! Felt like Nate could’ve had more part in it but other than that it was great!

The performance was absolutely the best part!

If you were a fan of the writing style of the Uglies you’ll like this

Amber Benson is a legend.

Her poor voice but oh my gosh did she GO for it. The story is refreshingly real and I am excited for any future installments that may come from this crew as the characters are all so endearing and relatable.

Awesome Storytelling

I have never heard such dynamic storytelling before. Even without names being mentioned, Amber Benson makes it easy to distinguish between voices and brings these characters to life. I cannot imagine enjoying this story half as much reading it on my own.

Disappointing!!

What a waste of a credit. Started out as such an interesting sequel, then the story got needlessly depressing and terrible. Character arcs spun out of control, made no sense. If you loved Zeroes, hold onto that story and don't ruin it with the sequel.

I don't know how I feel about this story.

I loved the reader and the different voices she used for the characters. I didn't like the villain or the cheesy way he back me the way he was. Also I didn't like how self conscious Kelsey was about becoming like him. To me, the choice was simple. Either you succumb and embrace a life of murder, or you say no and be who you are. Also, the ending was a little disappointing. Like the whole story built up to the moment, but the way the villain was taken down was anticlimactic. The plot was a little juvenile. This book seems like it was written for 12 year olds.
