About this listen

Running the family bakery and living in the store's attic might not be Daisy's dream life, but she's beginning to understand what being content feels like. And then she gets some unexpected news. In one moment, Daisy's calm existence turns into chaos. Now she's struggling to keep it together, especially with renovations at the bakery spiraling out of control. But when a box of recipes and mementos is found hidden behind a wall in the bakery, Daisy suddenly has something to cling to-a mystery that echoes her own troubles and gives her the opportunity to figure out what she really wants out of life.

History Matters

Totally enjoyed this continuation of the Union Street Bakery story. While I'm not sure why the author chose to use the bakery as her backdrop or infuse a seeming ghost story in it, I'm here for it! I love genealogy and only wish I had the nuggets to unlock some of my family's history. I am so glad Daisy kept pushing to emphasize the importance of knowing BOTH sides of her family history because it matters! I only hope that isn't something only adopted children understand. At any rate, good book.

Light hearted feel good journey of Love.

Light hearted feel good story of how love shows up in unexpected ways.
Narrator voice is pleasant to listen to. This story was great to listen to, especially as an escape from the reality of our current world news...

Present day challenge and historical mystery

This second book in the series is well developed and entertaining. I hope to find there are additional books written or in the works for the secondary characters whose lives are not neatly wrapped up.

Pleasant story

I don’t think I could sit and read this book — I’d be too bored. But it was great with my AirPods doing housework or in the car driving to school pickup. It’s a pleasant read, and after reading the first book, I found I liked revisiting the characters. I thought Daisy was a bit tedious (again) and ungrateful (again) and man was I sick of all the talk of DNA when she has this great family who loves her. Some of the relationship stuff with Gordon was hard to believe too. He’s a little too good to be true. And the ghost component was weak. So why did I enjoy the book? I honestly don’t know. Maybe it’s the narrator — I think she has a soothing voice. Or maybe I just enjoyed getting to know the characters and imagine life in a family bakery in Old Town Alexandria, where everything seems to work out for the best. Overall it’s a pleasant read; a distraction to help me get through boring daily tasks

Movie material

Looking forward to watching this in film/movie. It is so good. It has so much in it: detective, history, family contents, relationships, wholesome and exciting, with drama too.

No nonsense!

This family dynamic is wonderful. I loved the first book and now the second book has me me all a flutter. The narrator is still one of my favorites. Please tell me more.

Sweet Expectations

Great story line and I enjoyed the closeness of the sisters. Although happy with the sex of her child I was surprised. Definitely worth reading or listening to this story. I will be looking forward to the next book 😊.
