About this listen

Cooper Lee is at a crossroads. Her boyfriend of five years just left her for another woman, she's living in an apartment above her parents' garage, and her job as a copier repairperson is feeling a little, well, repetitious. Hoping for a fresh start and a new outlook on life, she joins the Bible study group at Hope Street Church. The last thing she expects while studying the Bible is a lesson in murder.

When Brooke Hughes, the woman who first invited Cooper to Hope Street, is found murdered in her home, all signs point to her husband as the culprit. But Wesley Hughes was an elder at Hope Street Church, and the members of the Bible study are filled with disbelief that such a kind and loving man could take a life, much less his wife's. Unwilling to let an innocent man and friend be railroaded into prison, the Bible group decides to investigate on their own. As Cooper and this humorously diverse group of people - including a blind folk artist, a meteorologist with a taste for younger women, and a soft-spoken web designer who might be out to catch Cooper's eye - dig deeper into the clues, they're about to discover that finding the truth sometimes takes a leap of faith.

Enjoyable read

I like a cozy mystery that entertains me without scaring me. This one fits the bill. The characters are enjoyable - the story was interesting and I find myself wanting to read the next one in the series. Excellent narration.

So good

I want more books like this one I couldn’t stop thinking about it and wanting to get back to listen. I even listened to the credits to know who wrote it.

Loved it!

I am a HUGE fan of the Books by the Bay series, so I was unsure how I would feel about a different series by the same author. I was so pleased! I loved the characters and the beginning of the evolution of Cooper towards the end of the book. My only complaint is that so far only books 1 and 2 of the series are available!!

Nice clean story

I loved the balance between the murder mystery and the church members lives. The story line moved really well. I’ll read the next book in the series.

I’m so glad I found this author

I’ve read and listened to alot of books and for some reason have never heard of this author. This book has it all, romance, mystery, feel good scenes and life lessons. The best book I’ve read in years.

Loved it!

I felt so engaged. it's like normal people trying to get additional info that helps an innocent to clear his name but without exageration. That might happens to anyone. Great story. I already downloaded the next once!
