'Abdu'l-Bahá
About this listen
"O that I could travel, even though on foot and in the utmost poverty, to these regions, and, raising the call of 'Ya Baha'u'l-Abha' in cities, villages, mountains, deserts and oceans, promote the divine teachings! This, alas, I cannot do. How intensely I deplore it! Please God, ye may achieve it." (`Abdu'l-Bahá)
`Abdu'l-Bahá's historic journey to North America in 1912 "endowed the United States and Canada, nay the entire continent, with potentialities such as it had never known in its history."..."He, through that visit, had bequeathed a priceless heritage - a heritage which carried with it the sacred and primary obligation to arise and carry on in that fertile field the work He had so gloriously initiated."
No sooner had His long and arduous journey ended, the world became embroiled in a global conflict whilst "...He, repairing to the quiet solitude of His residence in the close neighborhood of Bahá'u'lláh's hallowed shrine, continued to communicate His thoughts and wishes to those whom He had left behind..." "In the immortal Tablets... He unfolded to their eyes His conception of their spiritual destiny, His Plan for the mission He wished them to undertake. The seeds His hands had sown He was now watering with that same care, that same love and patience, which had characterized His previous endeavors whilst He was laboring in their midst." (Quotes from Shoghi Effendi - God Passes By)

The Qur'an, believed by Muslims to be the word of God, was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad 1,400 years ago. It is the supreme authority in Islam and the living source of all Islamic teaching; it is a sacred text and a book of guidance that sets out the creed, rituals, ethics, and laws of the Islamic religion. It has been one of the most influential books in the history of literature. Recognized as the greatest literary masterpiece in Arabic, it has nevertheless remained difficult to understand in its English translations.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
Just before Christmas in 1843, a debt-ridden and dispirited Charles Dickens wrote a small book he hoped would keep his creditors at bay. His publisher turned it down, so Dickens used what little money he had to put out A Christmas Carol himself. He worried it might be the end of his career as a novelist. The book immediately caused a sensation. And it breathed new life into a holiday that had fallen into disfavor, undermined by lingering Puritanism and the cold modernity of the Industrial Revolution.

Story
The 10 enlightening (and often humorous) lectures of Medieval Myths and Mysteries will show you how far from the “dark” times of legend these centuries were. Uncover the facts about the Knights Templar. Reveal the truth behind the tales of legendary creatures like the Questing Beast and the unicorn. Trace the events of the Black Death and the ways it altered the world in its wake, and much more. With Professor Armstrong, you will dig deep into the ways that later generations reshaped the narrative of the medieval years and perpetuated the myths.

Inspiring spiritual reminders
Loved it. The book gives inspiring reminders of spiritual possibilities of various regions and the responsibilities of those who can share in helping to realize those possibilities. I had forgotten how often the Gospel and the Quran were quoted in this book. I look forward to listening again.
