New York Times best-selling authors Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie Brown continue their fan-favorite Mrs. Murphy cozies with Tail Gait. Here spring comes to Crozet, Virginia, with a bang when a professor is gunned down in broad daylight. Now it's up to kitty sleuths Mrs. Murphy and Pewter, along with crime-solving corgi Tee Tucker, to sniff out the killer.

The stories go back and forth in time to connect people and events. History - both US and Virginia - are at the core along with all the social, economic, political, environmental, issues of the day, The stories are woven together and I applaud the author for skillful writing, however, to accomplish this she had to limit considerably time we spend with Harry and her animals. I was drawn to the series initially because of the unique relationship Harry had with her animals, the farm, her friends, and the wonderful little post office in Crozet. As the series progressed, I loved the addition of many critters at her farm and all the wildlife in the area. I missed them a lot as the author moved into more complex stories which necessitated time spent more on the story than Harry and the animals. All that said, I think these 4 books were very good if you are up for a challenge to follow all the events and people over 200 years.
