About this listen

I'm awoken after a thousand's year sleep to a brutal world ruled by a male who may be the devil himself—Ero. Strange that, though so much has changed, language hasn't lost its roots. Because of that, I'm able to interpret his tongue—the only one who can. I plan to use my strengths to free the captive tribes from Ero's brutality or, better yet, teach Ero that we can be stronger by working together. If I do that, I won't just change the warlord himself, I'll change everything. Too bad he's vowed to kill me first.

Welcome back to Earth—what's left of it, that is, in Xiveri Mates book seven. This barbarian warlord romance is gritty and by far the darkest in the Xiveri Mates universe, containing multiple violent scenes—including acts by the hero against the heroine. It is a complete standalone that can be listened to at any point and, as ever, features a fighting heroine who ensnares the villain and a guaranteed HEA.

This story involved a lot of very brutal violence. The mmc branded the fmc almost to her bone. She tried (several times) to escape via a few different sewage pipes. The enslavers are racist. The conflict goes on and on…and on. It’s kinda how one would expect a story like this to go. The humans were in stasis for 4,000 years and not in the mood to submit to a humanoid society. So they fought HARD for their freedom.

I was hoping for an escape or insurrection. I gave up on the love story, but this is a good enemies to friendamies to mates love story. The enemies- friendamies is an all out bloody war. If reading extremely violent stories isn’t your thing, you’ve been warned.

it was a good book. one of the best in the series. Definitely can be listened to as a standalone. wish it was longer and that there was more interaction with the other tribes. the ending left me wanting more. all in all it was a good book.

I feel like the last book in the series and this one were written by two different people. the writing and use of language as a unifying instrument between different tribes was just fantastic. And the romance was good too. :)

Beautiful language in this one

I loved how the MFC never gave up no matter what the MMC threw at her. I loved how she taught his barbaric people about unity and working together. And I enjoyed the romance and heat although it was a bit much at the end. The narration was awesome,
