About this listen

In a kingdom ruled by ravenous vampires, I was bred to serve and destined to bleed. When I'm chosen by an elite, I'm thrust into a deadly world of courtly intrigue and dark desires. The prince's icy exterior hides a fierce passion, but will I claim his heart or his crown?

The more I unravel the twisted secrets of the vampire court, the more I realize that for my people to thrive, the king must die... and I'm the only one who can defy him. Can I find my grandfather's secret antidote and use it against the fanged tyrant—or will he kill me before I seal the deal with his immortal son?

But there's more at stake than just my survival, and my feelings for the prince betray my rebel mission. As I weigh my heart against my kingdom, I'm surrounded by a web of lies and deceit, and I can't help but wonder if I'm playing into the hands of those who seek to destroy me.In a world where loyalty is scarce and trust is deadly, can I defeat the other chosen and win the Trials, a brutal competition with only one champion? Can I trust on the enigmatic prince, who seems to hold the key to my heart? Will he protect his father and throne... or will our love destroy us both?

In this dark fantasy vampire romance, brimming with gothic horror, you'll be transported to a world of vampire kingdoms, where danger, intrigue, and romantic suspense reign supreme.

Interesting and exciting

Book one:
This was a good start to this series. Vampire books can be hit or miss for me, but this one is good so far. It's a bit dark, but not overly so. I have the full series on audiobook so I'll likely be binging them all.

Book two:
I didn't like this one as much as the first, but it was still a good read. It had more spice than I prefer (though not nearly as much as some people read 😆). The story was interesting, and I hope the third book is even better!

Book three:
This was the best book in this series so far! Action packed and absolutely awesome to read! Can't wait to start the final book.

Book four:
This was a good ending to this series, though there were a few aspects that I didn't love (they're spoilers so I won't go into detail). But a lot of it was dealt with in a way that made it less frustrating for me. Overall, this was an action-packed, very interesting finale.

It was a book that had vampires in it

The Hunger Games meets Vampires.
(I'm about to finish the second book)
Loved the premise, how the vampires came into creation and into power etc. was very cool!
However, the book lacks anyyyyyy.... how do I put this? Personality? Emotional stakes?
The book feels more like a detailed list of events than a story. "This happened then that happened and after that we decided to do this and it was hard because xyz"
The romance, I couldn't even call half-baked. It barely got mixed into a dough. The love interests have no personality! That can be said about almost every character, aside from some of the tertiary ones. I almost wish the author didn't include the romantic premises at all. I feel like 12 year old girls with no relationship experience could have built a more reasonable premise for desire, I'll point back to my "this book feels like a list of events" comment.
I will say, getting the full series for 1 Audible Credit makes it forgivable.

very drawn out

this could have been done as a basic trilogy. a good amount of the time is spent with constant repeat information. I don't need to know how the elixir makes her feel 10,000 times or have her replay over and over her feels about the two guys. other than that it's a good story. its a very slow burn and the intimate scenes are very light and vague.
