About this listen

"A skillful narration of this story, especially its humor, makes this a fun and enjoyable performance." —AudioFile on Can't Spell Treason Without Tea

The Princess Bride meets Bookshops and Bonedust in the third audiobook of the Tomes & Tea series, where our favorite lesbian pirates must navigate the ultimate maelstrom—their own wedding!

Kianthe and Reyna are ready to finally walk down the aisle—in just seven days, their wedding of a wifetime will be a reality. There's loads to do—but like all best laid plans, everything seems to be going awry.

Between their baby dragons causing mayhem in Tawney, Kianthe's uptight parents inviting themselves to the wedding, and Reyna becoming embroiled in a secret plot to overthrow Queen Tilaine, the world seems against them—how are they going to live long enough to say "I do"?

Tea You at the Altar (Tomes & Tea #3) by Rebecca Thorne might be my favorite one in the series - it’s sweet, funny, low angst, and we also spend a lot of time with Reyna and Kianthe. I love their relationship - they are always working thru any issues with honest conversations.

The audio versions narrated by Jessica Threet are excellent. There are many characters in the series and she does such a great job distinguishing between the large cast. I loved the way she created regional accents for each of them - for example everyone who was from the Queendom had a higher class royal accent.

The Tomes & Tea books are fun comfort reads for me and they bring a little bit of joy in these dark times.

Puns, kindness, and the overthrow of a monarch!

I be honest, not my favorite of the series. The other two book are a wonderful cozy story with two wonderful character in a magical and inclusive world. This story had less coziness as it just mainly about how to overthrow the Queen, which honestly was a bit boring in the beginning. The family drama and theology was more interesting than the coup itself, with the murder investigation being done by side characters off screen.

The second half I start getting into it as they have a more concrete plan on how they will overthrow the queen. The character are still wonderful as ever and who could hate on baby dragons. Add the narrator doing a wonderful job, its hard to say I did not enjoy the story. I just hope for some more coziness or at the very least more fun and adventure like the second book for the sequel.

A coup full of stress and just a bit of coziness

Honestly, one of the things I loved most about the first two books in the series was that they did not have big cliffhanger endings. I was pretty disappointed to find this one did.

Different than the others

Again Rebecca Thorne made a story with fun characters who rope you into their lives. The puns are excellent, the stakes high, and the love surrounding Reyna and Kianthe inspiring. Can't wait to read/listen again and again. I'm so excited for the next one.

Great to get to spend time in Tawny again while weeding shenanigans ensue. Nothing ever resolves the way I'm expecting can''t wait for book 4 to see how this all comes together. This series gives you all the cozy vibes while telling and engaging story.
