About this listen

Kelly Frost, a textiles conservator, is invited to the Massachusetts coastal city of New Bedford to restore a 150-year-old Mariner's Compass quilt. But there is one stipulation: she must live and work in Gray House, a former whaling captain's home, where the quilt is stored. There she meets Army veteran Tom Pereira, the caretaker of Gray House, whose heart seems as hard as the rocky Massachusetts coastline.

Over the long-lit months as Kelly works to restore the quilt, she and Tom grow closer. And as she reads stories in a daily journal penned by Mary Gray, she learns the secrets of the quilt and Mary's own sad tale of regret. Then Tom learns secrets of his own family's past, and both Tom and Kelly learn they are tied to Gray House in ways they never imagined.

Great plot, characters, and setting. Well-written and intriguing. Enjoyed it very much.

The narrator did a great job! Her tone, acting, and characters' voices were terrific! She helped bring the story to life and gave it that extra boost that good narrators do.

Great mysterious story

I had a bit of trouble focusing on the plot line. A cute tale and reminder God works life out in unexpected ways.

An okay read

This was another book from the Love For Quilts series. It was a tender story of heartbreak that started in the 1850’s and ended up in the current time period with families reunited with family they knew nothing about. I enjoyed the quaintness of the story.

Sweet book

Ms. Sowell writes a story about a tattered heirloom NE family quilt, a woman in disgrace looking for personal and professional redemption, and a man searching out a new beginning after a life altering event. A aged dying man is the driving force she uses to bring the three of them together. Her climax builds and over a bit too quickly for me after a book that built it up. The ending was sweet and resolved it all interestingly enough.
Recommend for those who enjoy Christian stories with mystery and light romance.
Narrator did a relative good job. I got confused a few times but overall it was well done.

Old mystery wrapped up with blooming romance

I love it when the good guys/gals win, and they bond over something so significant to their past. of course, During a tragic event a little more feeling in the areas of the story would have been better to really capture... example: FIRE!!!.... not ... uh, fire. dramatically capturing the content goes hand in hand with what the author tried to bring across to the readers. other then thar, The narrator did great.

A wonderful little story

The story was well-written, and the characters were real and relatable. I enjoyed the biblical foundation and the words of encouragement in difficult life situations.

Realistic and encouraging

Re ally great story with fun twists & turns. Tom is working on the grounds when Kelly arrives to restore an keepsake of a quilt. Starting slowly, Tom & Kelly get to know each other. They start to build a budding romance only to generators by Kelly's old cheater flame who shows up unexpectedly. You'll have to get the book to find out what happens next.
