Jack and Riley Campbell-Hayes begin a journey that will change their lives forever.
Set against the backdrop of the Double D, the cast of the Texas audiobooks face changes that won't leave a single one of them untouched.
Jack and Riley want to extend their small family of three. Their first choice is surrogacy with Jack as the father, and when all this begins smoothly both men can't help but contemplate at what point would things go wrong. After all, their lives are far from normal, and nothing is ever smooth.
Add a small four-year-old boy in foster care into the mix, and suddenly things become a whole lot more complicated.

This story follows on from the final scene in the previous book and as the title and cover indicate the guys are looking to extend their family. (I would suggest you listen to the previous three stories first to become familiar with the characters and their life on the ranch).
The surrogacy route Riley and Jack decide to take is covered in plenty of detail and—surprisingly for me—I found this story enthralling. There’s less of a soap opera drama feel to this one and more of a focus on the day-to-day life on the ranch, the worries facing the guys and their surrogate mother. For some reason, I was anticipating something bad happening for them all, but it got to the stage where I thought, ‘No, it can’t go wrong now!’ There are plenty of tense moments and some angst, but Jack and Riley face it together. In addition to this, the guys also become attached to their surrogate’s temporarily fostered autistic son. The men’s hearts are big enough to want to include him in their family as well. That’s easier said than done.
Other couples and storylines are interwoven within the main thread, so we get a glimpse at what’s happening with Eli and Robbie, and the other close family members. A new ranch hand with a troubled past is introduced to the cast of characters and his story will feature more in the next installment.
This story is not all about babies. Jack and Riley still manage to share some sizzling moments together and it’s great to see how their relationship has developed since book 1. They’re a strong couple and closer now than ever before.
Sean Crisden is synonymous with Jack and Riley (and all the others) in this series. He has consistently maintained the voices and personalities for these characters. His superb narration brings the story to life and I could picture each scene clearly as I listened. His voice is expressive and interesting, and I still love the deep gravelly voice for Jack.
And then there were five...

What did you love best about Texas Family?
3 1/2 out of 5 starsThis is the first in this series that I have listened to (or read for that matter) and though I was a little confused in the beginning I did manage to catch up with everyone (for the most part) and follow the story pretty well.
Sometimes the change in narration wasn’t quite enough to really know whose POV we were listening to. I felt like both Riley and Jack were good guys with a lot to admire about them, but on some level they also seemed kind of lame.
BUT then they were meeting with the surrogate's family and my heart melted at how they both fell in love with little Max. I couldn’t help but want more scenes with him. AND I felt like once the babies were born the book just ended and we didn’t really get the conclusion I was looking for.

As I've said many times before, RJ Scott's Texas series was the first published M/M genre book that I read so they will always hold a place of pride in my heart. No matter how many times I read or listen to the journey Jack and Riley Campbell-Hayes, their friends and family take I never tire of it. The characters and the paths they take are so real, so honest, the good and the bad, the heartache and the healing, it never fails to put a smile on face.
As for the audio versions, I can't imagine anyone other than Sean Crisden bringing these stories to life. Sean's voice make Jack, Riley, and the whole Texas family(which grows with each entry because its not just blood that connects everyone) real. Honestly I felt as if I looked up I'd see Jack with Solo Cal out in the yard or Riley on the floor with his maps.
If you haven't read/listened to Texas before I highly recommend giving it a go but it is a series needed to be experienced in order. I warn you though Jack and Riley can be addictive, you'll never want to say goodbye and now thanks to audio you really don't have to😉😉.

What I enjoy most about this series, about these men, is the way they love each other. They may be crazy, they may be too busy to do much more than sleep a few hours in the same bed, they may be moody, cranky and bitchy, but at the end of the day they love each other with every fiber of their being. And they are fiercely devoted to their family and the people in their lives. Seriously, I wish they were real and that they were my friends, how much fun life would be.
If you're a fan of the Author or the series, then you've already listened, right? Sean Crisden continues to carry this zany cast of characters and continues to do an amazing job. Every person is clearly visible and conveyed well. I think my favorite voice would be the one he uses for Jack. "I love you het boy!"

How freaking adorable are these two guys that they just keep wanting to expand their family and have a bunch of cute kids together. These guys are just too much. Too much Cuteness. I love these books. The ongoing story line is pretty perfect with the progression of these guys their family and friends all living their best lives. Lol. But really this whole series of books is just cute and sweet and heartwarming. Gives you all kinds of fuzzy feelings.
Sean Crisden is such a great narrator. Not one thing wrong with this book or the first three before this one. Cute series made even cuter by the narration from Sean.

The title of this book really tells you about this chapter in Jack and Riley's life. It's all about family. Both Jack and Riley have decided they want to have another child and to give Hailey a sibling. But the focus of this book is not entirely on how that happens, there's so much more going on. Of course, Riley's having to deal with issues from his dead brother still; his sister-in-law has met someone; Eden and Sean are having difficulties; Beth's decided to have another baby; and of course, when Riley and Jack decide to have a child, they go big and end up with more than one. You know, just a typical day in the life of Jack and Riley Campbell-Hayes!
In preparation of listening to this book, I bought the first three audiobooks in the series and Sean Crisden is the narrator for all of them. I loved that there was one narrator for all four books, especially since I listened to them consecutively. The narrator did a fantastic job with this story and with the characters. There are a lot of characters in this story and I really felt that he did an excellent job of bringing the story to life and providing individual voices for all of the various characters. Sean Crisden has an easy-to-listen-to voice. He keeps a good pace, brings emotions into narrating, and doesn't have weird pauses or silence in his storytelling.
This series is one of my favorites, whether in print or audio. I absolutely love following a couple throughout their life like this series does and seeing the happiness build. And, what I absolutely love, is that this author doesn't make every book after full of angst and fighting between the MC's just to have angst in the story. She brings plenty of angst into the stories, but she allows Jack and Riley to remain strong and to draw closer to each other instead of turning on each other. I will definitely listen to this audio series over and over again and can't wait for the next three books to be released in audio!
