Publisher's summary

Sometimes Riley and Jack have to be the ones to fight other people's battles and stand up for what is right.

With the life-changing prospect of a yes vote from SCOTUS on the issue of same-sex marriage, Riley and Jack realize they have decisions to make. Add in some distressing family news and the very real possibility that old secrets may resurface, and this audiobook in the Texas series pulls together as many threads as the boys can manage to handle.

But through all the ups and the downs, children, family events, laughter, and tears, there is nothing as special as the forever love between these two men.

Love and Marriage...

And so the series draws to a close with all the various storylines being wrapped up and resulting in a happy ending for everyone in the Campbell-Hayes household. Of course, there’s some angst and drama along the way, including new medical issues and more hospital visits.

Jack is still pursuing the young ranch hands who were abused along with Liam and wanting to improve their lives and future prospects.

Weddings are not the sole focus of this story, but the SCOTUS ruling allowing same-sex marriages in the US impacts on the various couples at the Double D. They get their chance to air their opinions and discuss their reaction to the ruling. Partly due to this, Jack and Riley want to put their family affairs in order with regard to their children. They each wish to be acknowledged as the rightful parent in case anything unthinkable should happen to the other.

Overall, this is another enjoyable story with an uplifting ending. It was great to follow the relationship development between the various couples, but most of all witnessing Jack and Riley’s journey over the seven stories. They emerge as caring, selfless individuals with a great love for each other, their family and work colleagues.

Sean Crisden is a talented narrator, perfectly suited to performing this type of story. His voice is spot on for each character, and he portrays the various personalities and emotions superbly. He keeps a steady pace and makes each story easy to listen to and follow.

Recommended but you do need to start at book 1 and follow the series in order.

Beautiful!!!

Overall Series 5th Re-Read 2019:
As I've said many times before, RJ Scott's Texas series was the first published M/M genre book that I read so they will always hold a place of pride in my heart. No matter how many times I read or listen to the journey Jack and Riley Campbell-Hayes, their friends and family take I never tire of it. The characters and the paths they take are so real, so honest, the good and the bad, the heartache and the healing, it never fails to put a smile on face.

As for the audio versions, I can't imagine anyone other than Sean Crisden bringing these stories to life. Sean's voice make Jack, Riley, and the whole Texas family(which grows with each entry because its not just blood that connects everyone) real. Honestly I felt as if I looked up I'd see Jack with Solo Cal out in the yard or Riley on the floor with his maps.

If you haven't read/listened to Texas before I highly recommend giving it a go but it is a series needed to be experienced in order. I warn you though Jack and Riley can be addictive, you'll never want to say goodbye and now thanks to audio you really don't have to😉😉.

My all time favorite series.

These were some of the first LGBTQ books I had ever read. It made me fall in love with RJ Scott books and Sean Crisdens narration. I own over three thousand audiobooks in the lgbtq genre. This series is my favorite. I rarely leave reviews so thought I would express the fun, joy and tears this series brings. Amazing writing.

Love the story, love the audio performance.

I've read all of the Texas series books and LOVED them. Texas Wedding is book 7 and when I found out that the audio version was available I couldn't wait to listen to it.

Sean Crisden's performance of this story is absolutely perfect. He nails all of the voices and made the characters in my head come alive for me. Often when I listen to a book that I've already read I don't worry about catching every word – especially if I'm trying to do two or three things at once. 😊 But when I listened to Texas Wedding my attention was completely focused on the words I was hearing.

As for the story, I can't say enough good things about books by RJ Scott and the Texas series in particular. This series really needs to be read or listened to in order. All of the books are interwoven and one builds on the other with different couples taking center stage but Texas Wedding is really about the entire series.

If you've already read the other Texas books then you must absolutely listen to, or read, Texas Wedding. It wraps up the series very nicely and also introduces the Legacy series of 3 books.

Box of tissue warning: I was bawling my eyes out (happy tears) during parts of this story, especially near the end. I was very glad I wasn't out in public while I listened to this. Having my hubby give me the side-eye is bad enough. 😊

Note: In the Publisher's Summary for Texas Wedding on Audible.com it says that this is the last audiobook in the Texas series. As fans of this series know, RJ Scott gave her readers a fantastic surprise last fall when she published Texas Gift which was like a wonderful long epilogue for the series. I sincerely hope that RJ decides to have Sean do the audio for Texas Gift.

A copy of this audiobook was provided to me by the author but that didn't influence this review and no review was requested or required.

Back to Texas with Riley and Jack

This series is a favorite, and Jack and Riley are much beloved. It was wonderful to revisit them in this story that takes place around the SCOTUS ruling on marriage equality. Although Jack and Riley are already married, they want to share a big celebration on their ranch with their children and all the people they love. Meanwhile, so much is going on. Jack is working on new plans for the ranch, both men are doing their best to deal with the challenges of parenthood, other couples we've grown to love are still loving life together, and family reign supreme.
This story was so satisfying, and the narration was well done by a performer I always love listening to. Excellent audiobook!

Texas Wedding

Texas Wedding is the seventh book in RJ Scott’s Texas series. As I've stated before, this series must be read/listened to in order as it follows the lives of Riley and Jack Campbell-Hayes and their family. I’ve read and listened to this series many times and every time I fall in love with it more.

In this episode of the Jack and Riley soap opera, the US Supreme Court ruled on same-sex marriage and Jack decided they needed to be more outspoken. Another ceremony is organized, but this time they were going to open their lives and let people see that their lives are no different than a hetero couple.

All the men on the ranch are doing well and their relationships are going strong. Robby upholds his promise to Eli and as soon as marriage is legal in Texas, he’s on his knee proposing and ready to run off to marry. Darren and Vaughan find out that a puppy is not for them. Eden and Sean, Beth and Josh have exciting news, as does Lisa and her new husband. This book continues to show the importance of family. At the end, Kyle comes into the picture. His story can be found in a spin-off series that takes place on the Double D.

Sean Crisden is a fantastic narrator that brings this story to life! Even when I read this story, I hear his voice narrating it in my head because it’s perfection! He is able to give each character distinctive voices and is consistent with the use. He has an easy-to-listen-to tone, keeps a great pace and is clear and concise is his narration. He conveys emotions through the characters and lets the focus be on the story and characters, not the narration.

I love that even though each book is a new addition to the soap opera, that the love remains constant. If you’ve never listened to this audio, or read this series, I’d highly recommend it! Though I love both the books and audiobooks, my preference is the audiobook. It’s easy to fall into the story, shut out the outside world and just be part of the Campbell-Hayes family.

Finally

Finally is all that I can say. This is the ending of the series but still one of the best. Not happy that this is the last book in the series. Would love to know what happens in the Campbell-Hays family and where they go from here. Glad that RJ Scott waited until the Legalization of Gay Marriage in the Untied States to release this one. It made it all come together, and wanting more.
