About this listen

A remote military research station sends out a frantic distress call, ending with a chilling final command: Kill us all! Personnel from the neighboring base rush in to discover everyone already dead - and not just the scientists, but every living thing for 50 square miles is annihilated: every animal, plant, and insect, even bacteria.

The land is entirely sterile - and the blight is spreading.

To halt the inevitable, Commander Gray Pierce and Sigma must unravel a threat that rises out of the distant past, to a time when Antarctica was green and all life on Earth balanced upon the blade of a knife. Following clues from an ancient map rescued from the lost Library of Alexandria, Sigma will discover the truth about an ancient continent, about a new form of death buried under miles of ice.

From millennia-old secrets out of the frozen past to mysteries buried deep in the darkest jungles of today, Sigma will face its greatest challenge to date: stopping the coming extinction of mankind.

But is it already too late

Grandpa joe has gotta go

What did you like best about The 6th Extinction? What did you like least?

The old man narrating made everything sound like telling a story on a. Old country farm.. He had two voices: old man and marge simpson

How could the performance have been better?

Change the narrator

Stop using Christian Baskous!!!!!!!!

Where does The 6th Extinction rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Last

What other book might you compare The 6th Extinction to and why?

The Eye of God. Because Christian Baskous is a terrible narrator

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Christian Baskous?

Peter Jay Fernandez, Scott Brick, Ron Mclarty

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The narrators voice mad me cry!

Any additional comments?

I would have payed full price for the bone labyrinth, then I saw that Baskous will be the narrator so that pretty much ruins the book all together!!!!!!

this guy should not read out loud

Any additional comments?

This was a good book. The narrator was not a good choice. Try Scott Brick.

Does anybody look at the reviews other than the listeners ?

Reviews have been quite blunt about the narrator. Obviously the publisher, author, and producer do not read the reviews

It's different

This story, while good, wasn't as engaging as previous ones have been. I sure do miss the narrator of the first several books.

Been there, never done that!

Now this was a fully enjoyable book for me. It brought back some memories, not about the subject as much as the described locations.

I hate to say this but I am older. In the 1980's my wife and I went up to the Owens valley. While there, we went to the ghost town Bodie. It was well described by Rollens. Even the buildings. Then the area around Lee Vining on hwy 395 was just as accurate. I also found some pictures of Mono lake.

That doesn't top it all though. Before my retirement from the Coast Guard I made four trips to the Antarctic. I was in Deepfreeze 68, 69, 71 and 72. On two of those cruises we went deep into the Weddell sea as far as the Filschner ice shelf. Even seeing the research station. We also became beset in the Iceland almost had to winter over. On all the trips I was stationed on board the USCSC Glacier, WAGB 4 which has since been scrapped.

Knowing the setting of the story made it more believe able and harder to put down. Enjoy the book and as you read it know it is more fact than fiction.

Dialed in

The narrator was weak and the story not nearly as good as previous Sigma Force novels. I'll stick with James Rollins, but this one was disappointing.

Great book, don't care for narrator

Love James Rollins books including this one. Always suspenseful, intelligent and exciting. I find this narrator terrible at other voices! Kowalski especially is irritatingly poor.
